Gilzean is a stand out player for me his assists must be right up there as well. Playing much of his time with Greaves the all time great, Gilzean's skill with the head must surely rank very high indeed.

Yes, I saw the Gilzean-Greaves partnership and the later one he had with Martin Chivers.

Gilly was a truly great player - such a shame he wants nothing more to do with the club.

And a bit of a mystery as to why. He seems to want to enjoy a quite life out of the media spotlight.

That's his decision but I really find it upsetting that the club touts players as 'legends' who really weren't fit to tie Gillies' bootlaces.

I'll do a thread to see what memories we can trawl up from the older posters. <ok>

The club not only touts players as legends, but makes money out of them as well. This is the main reason Greaves and Perryman have always refused to be inducted into the clubs' Hall of Fame, although before his unfortunate health problems, I believe Perryman had changed his mind.

Never saw Greaves play, but saw Chivers he was immense.
The last game I saw live at the Lane was V the Goons and he scored both in a 2-0 win - October 74 i think.

What OS says is true, unfortunately. The club sought to profit from Greavesie without offering him anything. Not unnaturally, he refused.
Gilzean was a highly intelligent player. Good with his head, yes, but here was far more to his game. Great touch, and very skilful. Strangely enough Berbatov reminds me of him a bit.
