https://freedomforfansblog.wordpress.com/ Have a read through this. West Yorkshire Police are stopping Hull City fans travelling to Huddersfield for some cock eyed reasons. If they get their way - it will affect all football fans. A 15 year old lad is taking WYP to court. His dads helping him, but he needs the support of all football supporters. Whether you only remember Hull City for Phil Brown telling the players off at half time at Man City and want to take the piss about it that is fine. But have a think about it. If WYP get their way other police forces will follow and you're travel to away games will be severly restricted.
This is the BBC's take on it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-21555294 Is there any needle between Hull and Huddersfield? Seems like an overreaction by the police, to me.
There was a one off incident about 10 years ago. Not a whiff since then. So, much like every other club up and down the country I would suggest. What the article doesn't mention is that the reverse fixture at Hull was 12.30, but without any restrictions on numbers of Huddersfield fans. And unless I missed it there was no widescale disorder. Initially the game at Huddersfield was to have been 12.30 WITHOUT restrictions on numbers of Hull fans, so potentially up to 4,000 away fans attending. Sky intervened to request the match be televised at 5.30pm, at which point WYP threw a hissy fit and advised that thousands of Hull City fans on all day drinking binges was a recipe for trouble. You may think that they would have been armed with statistics to verify the decision however using their own figures it was revealed that a startling number of Hull City fans had been arrested for alcohol related offences, that figure being ...... yep, you've guessed, NIL. Also not quite sure why they assume that a late ko would assume that Hull City fans would be on the piss. One may assume that Huddersfield fans could also take advantage of a few extra hours to get trolleyed, but let's not go there. WYP explained that the cost to police 4k drunken Hull City fans at 5.30pm would be £30k more than at mid day. Maybe piss artists are easier and cheaper to contain at mid day even if there are 4k of them. The cost therefore was another reason why the numbers needed to be cut. When WYP Plod were asked on BBC Radio Humberside if Huddersfield Town paid the £30k would that clinch it, alas WYP wouldn't even answer. So, many pre booked travel plans ... supporters coming from abroad (having bevvied up on the planes and ferries duty free presumably) are scuppered. And those that live around the UK similarly knackered. Still it could be worse, there could be a Hull City fan living almost next door to HTFC ground who has to travel to Hull to travel to Huddersfield, oh wait a minute ............
WYP have a track record of twatting around when it comes to football - they're messing Leeds around at the moment as well.
Why do you have Tottenham in the title? We're not going to Huddersfield anytime soon and whilst clubs are dragging their heels on funding the police's extra man power required on matchday I don't think there's much to complain about. The only problem I have is that the away fans suffer for the home club refusing to foot the bill when extra policing is required. If the match was moved for Sky, however, then Huddersfield and Hull will get extra money for the game so a little co operation from the 2 clubs and you could take your full compliment of away fans.
Much cheaper to watch on Tele or PC these days . You can spend the money on buying a 84in TV for £20,000 .
