I was watching footy on my own earlier, when I had a shout from Mrs. N. in her lounge to come hither, normally this would never happen as its usually boring, but she mentioned Spurs so I dragged my arse out the chair. She was watching Great Britiish Bake Off and lo and behold this was on... I've been a fan for phruumph years, walked the High Road from 7 Sisters a hundred times and never have seen it, nor heard of it, no mention of it, even on the Stadium Tours I've been on. I thought the staple diet of Tottenham is fried chicken, kebabs and pizza's. Is there a quaint bakery selling Tottenham Cake I've missed, am I alone? anyone tried it? whats the mulberry icing like?.
Didn't watch the vid, but Tottenham cake is quite well known. Heck, Percy ingle sell it, an probably gregg's too
Wikipedia says that Greggs still sell them. I had them as a child but they were called something else. Recipe for that little bit of time between football games: http://bakewithmeblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/01/tottenham-cake/
I should've added I am not a local, and to this day I've not set foot in a Greggs...I'm not having anything a Northerners made! as for old Perce, tbf I wouldn't be looking out for a bakery on the way to a match, cake and beer...nah! Its just fast food and plastic bowls of fruit n veg half of which I don't recognise! on my route.
Maybe someone should open a Tottenham cake stall near the ground on match days and break the monotony of fast food and veg (veg?!? Wtf?)

have you never walked the High Road from 7 Sisters? never a dull moment! but very limited in a culinary sense!
I've done it twice, usually come from Northumberland avenue though on the rare occasions i get up there. I've never chewed on random veg (ooo-er missus) before a match though. Maybe now i've got myself dumped i'll get down there more often to experience this veg, lol.
You must have seen the convenience stores with market stalls full up to the hilt with those plastic bowls full of fruit n veg. I was only commenting on the number of them along with the fast food outlets. I can assure you I make sure I have a very nice meal way before i get as far as Tottenham. You won't see me walking along the road with an ugli fruit...though one of my mates has been called worse!
Hahaha, ok. It was this line that made me think your partook in fruit/veg/beer/fast food before a match: "cake and beer...nah! Its just fast food and plastic bowls of fruit n veg half of which I don't recognise! " I live near upton park and go passed the green street market every day its on so i know the types of crazy **** you mean. The furthest i've ventured is those crazy big banana things.
We've digressed so far from Percy's cake shop...wherever the hell that is! While looking through Google images for Tottenham Cake... please log in to view this image ... I spotted this one! please log in to view this image
Maybe the cake is where Spurs have been going wrong over the years. I hope AVB's banned it now Huddlestone has gone.
There used to be a bakers shop along Lordship Lane near the Cambridge Road in Tottenham where mum used to send me after 4 pm to buy a 3 penny bag of stale (?) cakes for tea. (How I never got run over I'll never know!). But they also sold Tottenham Cake. Very nice too! I believe there was also something called Tottenham Pudding. But this was "made" at the local dust distributors and consisted of kitchen waste for pigs.
