Back from less than sunny Donnie and fed up. Saw the 3-2 at Leicester; the 2-1 at Cardiff and there is a huge difference today. We got what we deserved today - nothing. I was next to a guy who had been at Bristol and reckoned it was the same there. Not having a go. Nige is still a genius. We missed the big boy today, sure. But just maybe it was reality check day and we showed ourselves wanting.

Answers on a post card please .............

It was about the same at bristol, away from home teams know how to play us. All they need is a couple of pacey players and counter attack with speed and we have no answer to it. We where **** today and **** at bristol.

    JDub, I don't see how <doh>

You're the type of idiot that would be chanting for NA's head if he loses one more game.

Quite obviously we played poor today but this thread is a complete overreaction! <doh>

NA has said if we don't gain promotion this season we try again the next.
If not next year then the year after etc...

The job he has done is perfect!

Of course expectations have sky rocketed.
But if someone said in August Saints would be in the top 2 come mid December then you would have laughed at them!

We are over achieving massively and given our good form overall I am sure NA and NC would be willing to make an addition in January to push us for the final assault

As NA said, you will have off-days and today was one of them.

One thing is certain, we will come back stronger!

    COYR!

We could play the same as this on another day and score a couple of goals. It wouldn't change the way we played, just our perception of it. We started this season with a high conversion rate of chances, now we are back to what we were doing last season. Just need a couple of players to get their shooting boots on and it will be service as usual.

But the galling thing is that with a little more attention to the front line we could have been a lot more dangerous and picked up a couple more points on the road this season and been further ahead. Few would have been confident to go into this season with only Barnard unavailable and unproven, Connolly attached to the treatment room with a bungee cord, and Guly the enigma as back up and partners for Lambert.

I think we need promotion this year...do you really think we'll have another season like this next year if we are still in the Championship. If we had a middling season this year we could say we were consolidating and hope for better next year, but our start has forced Nigel's hand. We must go up this season and we're still on course.

I 100% agree with you Fran. Whether our brilliant 'start' has been through momentum from how well we finished last season, or because the pressure was off us (not any more due to increased expectations as said on another thread), or if it was because other teams were underestimating us and did'nt know how we play. All those advantages would not be carried on to another season should we not get promoted this time round.
One thing that brings me back to earth when im moaning over a loss is thinking back to last season. We lost to Plymouth, Rochdale (twice), Walsall, Swindon (twice), Tranmere, Carlilse and Brentford as well as some others and had some suspect draws and yet won promotion. After 20 games we had 31 points as apose to 42 this time round.
We are still in a great position to push on and maintain our lofty position, we don't have to keep chipping away or hope for other results. There will be many more upsets along the way, but i believe that Nigel is the one to smooth those worries out. Remember its one game at a time.
So then, anyone fancy beating Holloway?

Completly agree this thread is a overreaction, if we had spent the money leicester had or had the wage budget West ham have then we should expect to go up this year, but we havent, Nigel knows theres a problem with the away forum, maybe we should give him a chance to sort it out before threads like this appear

I personally was worried that we hadnt spent enough in the summer to strengthen the team but Nigel was right to stick with the majority of the team from last year, im sure Nigel will spend wisley in Jan now that he knows where the shortfalls of this current squad lie.

Saints fans have never been so united, in Nigel we trust!
