There’s literally never a dull day at Southampton FC. A podcasting dream! With Mark Hughes having exited stage left earlier this week, Ralph Hasenhüttl, the ex-Inglostadt and RB Leipzig Head Coach, has taken over in the St. Mary’s hot seat. Episode 53 sees TSP regulars Ben Stanfield (Host), Adam Leitch (Chief Sports Writer, Daily Echo) and Steve Grant (Owner of SaintsWeb), are joined by Fresh Press UK Football Content Executive, and massive Saints fan, Luke Osman. Providing even more informed opinion on Hasenhüttl, FoxSoccer and Guardian Football Weekly journalist Archie Rhind-Tutt, and AIPS Media Bundesliga specialist Chris Williams, also drop by. It's exciting to hear that we are favouring a change in approach where we seek out players who are demonstrably good at football, rather than an egalitarian approach where we try to have a large squad where everyone is equally mediocre.
Thanks Ben. Interesting, that Mitchel was - or still perhaps is - looking to bring JWP to Liepzig. No need to move when he can have the Red Bull experience on tap here now. Very intriguing. Seems we're going to be more like RH's Ingolstsdt initially than his Leipzig team; Low scoring, hard to score against, which would be perfect. Very encouraging to hear how effectively he uses the resources he has available. Good news for the academy too, "time to get excited if you're 17/18" Sounds like Kreuger's 'final role of the dice' - before the finger would have pointed to him - was a well weighed one. The image of the 'carrot and stick' seemed to be on the guests minds
Long time since I listened to this podcast....basically because I couldn't imagine there was anything good to hear....so nice to hear something more uplifting. All good stuff....at least till our first game Seems that we landed a relatively big fish and the club avoided going for the Allardyce-type option. Ralph may be here to build a reputation and we are part of his career plan, but isn't that always true for us....he does well, we do well. Can live with that.
