A story in today’s press finally proved what myself and others had previously thought, the politicians running our country are using the tactics of 1930s Nazi Germany.

50 Year old Thalidomide victim, one of the first in this country in fact was found fit to work by our ever so intelligent DWP, what we really mean is that Atos decided she was fit to work? This poor woman who needs carer’s seven days per week to basically help her with everything from going to the toilet to brushing her hair, she is blind in one eye and has severe arthritis which causes her excruciating pain, she is also due to have surgery later this year on her spine, I’d love to know how the Nazi run DWP can defend this sort of judgement!

    Also;

Man who can't talk, walk, or feed himself has his benefits stopped and is told to PROVE he's unable to work

They can't defend it, they don't see people as people; just numbers and case files! They are obsessed with 'targets'! If they can get one of their 'numbers' off the 'list' then they will do it. They don't give a toss about the human 'story', just care about meeting their targets! The frightening thing is that these morons will do anything to get people off of benefits so they can present a healthy set of 'figures' at the end of the year!

Phil - as far as these people are concerned we are all statistics! Those of us that work are 'safe' at the minute, but God forbid if we are unfortunate enough to suffer an injury or illness that means we cannot work any more; then we will be at the mercy of these idiots!

That's very true Cartoon, I have a vested interest in this issue, due to the fact that my sister is disabled from birth, and I am following these issues with keen interest, but you have to realise that the chips are now down, and the Tory Scum will stop at nothing to steel from the disadvantaged to balance the books from the gambling of their Bankers!...............<ok>

Phil - I have lost all faith in the ****ers who are meant to represent us - is why I tend to make the most of the little talent I have in raising money for the various charities we support! The fanzine is just a platform for our fundraising activities and we have tried time and again to get some support from the assembly 'government'! But it seems we are not newsworthy enough - the Welsh Assembly will only support charities that that generate headlines so it seems!

We have no such agenda and would love to help your sister and any charity that supports her! If there is anything we can do just let us know! <cheers>

You're right PGF mate, but the Welsh, Scottish and us Northerners have lost the power we had through the ballot box and through our unions to stop crap like this happening because of the policies laid down by the witch.

I went to the USA three years ago and was shocked how many ill/disabled/old people were working (or attempting to work!). Three years down the line and we're going the same way.

They`ve tested what the people will tollerate over the years pushing and pushing and dumbing down the outcries until they`ve got us just where they want .
I hope the next generation will grow the back bone needed to punish them and take back what we`ve lost because there aint no respected leaders here and now to help us !

Can't believe people with clout 'supposedly' on the side of todays underdogs in society aren't at least voicing their concerns to highlight the situation, feel really sorry for Phil's sister and others in the same or worse predicaments having to go through this ****, i hope those that voted Lib-Dem in protest at Labour have learned from their mistakes.

Well said; people accept too much today. Blame the decision makers, or blame the people who accept the decisions?

I notice that in all the howls of protest about this issue not a word has been said by those opposed about the skiving b*stards malingering on the sick when there's nothing wrong with them that have made such stringent checks necessary? If only genuinely sick people were claiming sickness benefits then this wouldn't be happening. It didn't happen the last time the Tories were in power. Maybe because they didn't had thirteen years of Labour building up a public sector and welfare recipient voter base to fix.

Same as Nazi Germany? Get a grip is it? I suppose you're one of those people who genuinely believe that there is such a thing as a bedroom tax too.

Spot on. It's an insult to those who were the victims of that dreadful regime. Pathetic. This country is chock-a-block full of a generation of people who think the country owes them a living. The current Government reflects the mood of a lot of hard working people who are sick to death of those scumbags that for years have milked the system whilst they go out to graft and pay their taxes. Time to get off your lazy ****ing asses and look for work! This is important because it also frees up funds for those who really need it. In the given instance this woman will be able to appeal. If she has a case it will be allowed. If not, it won't.

I have first hand experience of this and have mentioned it before. A relative of my wife's is a superbly talented cake-maker. She has won international competitions for filligree icing. Harrods have offered to sell her work.Does she go out and look for work in a cake shop? Does she set up on her own? No. She's been ****ing sponging off the state for 30 years because she has 'vertigo'. I kid you not. That's now changing because her 'disablity' benefit has been stopped. Result!!

Contrast that with my wife herself who suffered an horrific back injury whilst we were living in Australia. Won't go into details but she would almost certainly qualify for disability benefits if she so chose. She hasn't made a single claim but has gone out and worked almost continually ever since, sometimes working through severe pain.

Sadly she is in a minority because our welfare system, whilst a national treasure in principle, has suffered generational abuse from lazy ****ers who only want to skive.

    Nazi Germany? Utter ****e!

Vote Green. Only party with sensible economic policies. Land value Tax and Citizens Income.

    Citizens' Income

EC730 A Citizen's Income sufficient to cover an individual's basic needs will be introduced, which will replace tax-free allowances and most social security benefits (see EC711). A Citizen's Income is an unconditional, non-withdrawable income payable to each individual as a right of citizenship. It will not be subject to means testing and there will be no requirement to be either working or actively seeking work.
EC731 The Citizens' Income will eliminate the unemployment and poverty traps, as well as acting as a safety net to enable people to choose their own types and patterns of work (See EC400). The Citizens' Income scheme will thus enable the welfare state to develop towards a welfare community, engaging people in personally satisfying and socially useful work.
EC732 When the Citizens' Income is introduced it is intended that nobody will be in a position that they will receive less through the scheme than they were entitled to under the previous benefits system. Children will be entitled to a reduced amount which will be payable to a parent or legal guardian. People with disabilities or special needs, and single parents will receive a supplement.
EC733 Initially, the housing benefit system will remain in place alongside the Citizens' Income and will be extended to cover contributions towards mortgage repayments (see HO602). This will subsequently be reviewed to establish how housing benefit could be incorporated into the Citizen's Income, taking into account the differences in housing costs between different parts of the country and different types of housing.
