Cut price deal for Torres anyone? He clearly doesn't like winning the CL and he wants to be loved. I'm sure we could help him achieve both of those ;-) Showed glimpses of a return to form in the latter weeks of the season. Can play up front on his own. I'm sure he'd score loads working with VdV.
would absolutely love to have Torres. on his day he's one of the best strikers in the world. A bad spell at chelsea, which he'll learn from when making a move to another club. Like you say spurfect, he seems like he's getting back to the old Torres too. Absolute dream signing. but: 1) wouldn't be able to pay the money for him unless is was some sort of Mordic p/x deal. - how would everyone feel about that? 2)wages would be a total no go, surely? 3) I see him going back to Liverpool.
Don't agree with 3), I think he'll either go back to Spain or maybe Italy. If he leaves that is. I don't think he'd really want to join us though and I doubt we'd be willing to put together a deal that both he and Chelsea would accept.
Got to love the BBC article. "Fernando Torres wants talks with the club about his future after suffering the 'worst moments' of his career" whilst the article shows a photo of him carrying the Champions League, with a smile from ear to ear. Grow up you big girl! We don't need players like that who sulk if they aren't playing every week. Get some perspective Torres. These modern footballers are a joke sometimes.
but surely that's exactly what we want? players who want to play each week! aren't they the as close to the "opposite" as you can get, of those who are money hungry? (i guess they can be both.) but look at Vertonghen. he's stated he wants to play for us, and despite CL football, he's told the dutch news that he still wants to play for us, because he wants to play. that's the exact sort of player we want, and the sort that will get so much respect from the fans.
So how much is Torres worth paying for if he only plays well very rarely, 2009 was the best he'll ever be, its all down hill now, the guy has some weird baggage cos he has ability and there was a flash of it at anfield when he hit the bar a few weeks ago, great run and cracking shot, but thats all very rare now. Worst move of his career going to Chelsea, though not medal wise, I thought he wanted to win things though, not watch others win things
I agree, we need players who show desire to play for us... not their own agenda. If Torres wasn't a spoilt brat, he wouldn't go to the press the day after the CL win and start unloading his baggage in the public domain. He'd do it behind closed doors, speak to the Chav hierarchy and see where his future lies that way. Not by moaning all over the press. It doesn't show desire to play, it shows petulance!
If we loan in Torres for next season, we might do alright...provided his form stays, he remains injury-free, and doesn't go off on an epic sulk.
would be surprised if this happened but he is a superb striker who hasn't lost any pace or any part of his game, just went through a dreadful run but each time he plays for chelsea he looks in great form, full of energy, works hard, makes great runs and would work great with vdv.
has he directly done that with the press? I thought he'd spoken to chelsea officials and its got out.
You can have Bentley and Jenas thrown in - and as you're intent on taking terrible goalkeepers from other Premier League clubs, Alnwick too.
I'd be happy if you loaned us Harry Kane for another season - But now you are in the Europa League I guess you'll be keeping all your reserves
He has been quality all season for me. He had a confidence issue in front of goal, but that is behind him now. We cannot afford his wages, otherwise would gladly swap him for Modric.
Other than the wage issue, I'd have no problem with it at all. Torres needs players feeding him chances, and with players like Bale and VdV we'd be able to provide that. However, in order to get him (ignoring the wage issue) we'd probably have to do a direct swap for Modric, which I think is a slightly bad deal on us
