Hey people, just a poll type thread. Now that it seems Suarez is leaving just wanted your opinion on who you think was the better player between Suarez and Torres. I do believe they are very different players but at the end of the day both were usually played as lone strikers. Suarez - 77 apps 38 goals Torres - 102 apps 65 goals I think Torres edges it. He could always create something out of nothing. Bar the transfer request to Chelski in 2011 he always had a great attitude and his partnership with Gerrard was great. Suarez's attitude irked me. The diving, biting players and the alleged racism (no genuine proof of this don't care what Man U fans think) gave the club a very bad image in the media. It's such a shame though cause he is a world class player and I understand he wants to leave cause the media hate him. He does deserve CL football. If he moves to Real Madrid I wonder where he will be played. Thoughts?
They were both exactly what we needed. Torres was an 'off the shoulder' striker and poacher and with the midfield we had at the time, that's exactly what we needed from a forward; someone to put away goals. He did that brilliantly. Suarez came when we had little creativity in the team and did just that along with a decent amount of goals. Torres would have been **** in our recent team (well, he was **** anyway, but you get my point) and Suarez wouldn't have been as useful to us in 2008. Right now though, I'd kill for a Torres style player as I'm not totally convinced in Sturridge but believe Coutinho can be that creator.
Suarez for me. Torres arrived in a far better situation and team. Suarez has been dragging our ass last season. If we had Torres last season instead of Suarez I think we'd, I am sure we'd have finished up in 10th in the league. for me Suarez is better at creating something out of nothing, Torres had one outstanding season in his whole career to date.
at the end of the day neither achieved anything of note whilst here so for me makes no dif as both will just be remembered for scoring some great goals. i will remember Kuyt for scoring a hatrick against the dirty mancs, what will these 2 be remembered for?, great players but that's all they was/are to us, well me anyway lol. if we can keep Luis and get top 4 finish then we certainly have the potential for better, but as of now nothing of note apart from improving our league position finishes with their goals, that would have been ****e with out either of them.
Torres is the better striker. Suarez is the better all round player. Torres had a lot of help from world class players - would he have been as prolific in this current team? Possibly because he was that good but it's debatable. Suarez on the other hand has performed in a poor team in comparison, and pretty much single handedly carried our team. Torres is the type of striker I want at this club because he was exciting, explosive and his finishing was exquisite. Suarez is a player who would play a second striker or out on the wing.
torres was world class and we used him up by not having an option to come in so we could rest him. rushed him back at least 4 times IMO. suarez shoots early, annoys everyone and has a touch of genius. he's not quite the same player nor is he as good as torres was when we got him. I think suarez will have a long career annoying people but i can't see him getting the same fan support elsewhere but the spanish press will eat him alive... if they want to.
