Just watched it on match of the day, that's got to be the worst red card decision i've ever seen, Number 1. He didn't make contact, Number 2. You can go on about the intent but his feet were nowhere near his legs they were identically where the ball would of been. Number 3. They say he had both feet high? One was basically on the ground and the other was about a inch above the ground. Pathetic decision and if i was AVB i would appeal and get it reduced because it's quite laughable.
Other than that great performance today, still worried about the defence seems a bit nervy sometimes from set plays and were conceding far too many.
Good to see the drog back and firing on all cylinders again as well and roll on valencia!!

Eh, I think it would have been hard to justify not sending him off. It was about all I saw of the first half, and saw two feet with studs up. I believe the referee was also behind him, and couldn't see he really didn't make contact. Not sure appealing will do anything other than add another game.

Well you're the only person I've seen so far who disagrees with the referees decision. I'll hold fire until I've seen highlights but it seems the ref got it right.

Much as I hate to say it, the ref was probably right. Going in with 2 feet left him with no option. AVB said he couldn't argue. I'm sure if there was a case there would be an official complaint. Its tragic, really , now that he is really beginning to look like the player we paid £50m. for!

100% red. If it happened to us I'd have expected the same outcome, just put it down to him being so eager to score!

It was a red mate. Let it go

At least he's starting to show some glimpses of improvement. He's just very unlucky at the mo.

Well to be honest i've seen people avoid getting sent off for worse, was a yellow in my opinion. I can understand what you all mean though but i just don't think it was intentional and he didn't actually make contact and you can say if he did he woulda broke the players leg or he nearly did or he could of blah blah but the fact of the matter is he didn't and it looked like he lunged in to get the ball, torres isn't normally like that and i'm sure after scoring a goal and playing his part in the second he wasn't going to do that if he thought he wouldn't get the ball.
O well on a positive note i'm glad that miss at man u hasn't affected him and i just hope he sees the red card as a 3 game rest and is ready to restart where he left off when coming back

Go out the garden, and throw yourself two feet off the floor. Try doing that without intention. It was just a moment of madness from Torres.

NB This is not an anti-Chelsea rant. You won fair and square and would probably have tuned us if Torres had stayed on. <ok>

We said the same about the red given to Cole on his debut last year - badly timed tackle yet minimal/no contact and no intent (eyes were alway on the ball) , BUT two footed studs up so = red card. Was very annoying but thems the rules and it's a very easy rule to enforce.

Not a great tackle but a little unlucky as he wouldn't have even gone for it had the player not miss controlled and left a ball there to be won.

Feel so sorry for Torres at the moment, he is trying so hard to impress that he's having little rash moments like this a lot. He could have been sent off a couple of weeks ago also (Norwich??).

2 goals in 2 (or 1 and a half!) games now and both brilliant finishes. Certainly starting to look the part so a massive shame he'll miss the next 3 games though I guess he'll play in Europe in this time.

Red Card. No contact by luck rather than judgement. I believe he played the ball and missed with no intention to injure, but if he played and missed the ball by that much it was plain luck he never made contact with the player and then he could of caused anything from a small bruise to a career ending break. I think even when a player makes such and tackle and wins the ball it should still be penalised simply because for 99% of players making that tackle from distance and getting the timing right is clearly just a lottery, where if you lose another professional could lose his career.

This is why Roman paid him big bucks -- Nando is eager and he is back !!

Aye, but knowing our luck this 3 game ban will completely demolish this slight run of form he's in <laugh>. Let's hope he bags one or two on Wednesday night in Valencia <ok>
