Let's have a debate, what's the Torres problem?

Is it that he is now a shadow of himself due to injuries and loss of pace?

Does he have a mental issue with scoring?

Is the team still not clicking?

    Let's discuss.

Can't be the team, because you keep on winning, and he keeps getting chances.

His pace has set-him up a few times as well, even though "Chelsea don't play to his strengths"...

I think it's mental, he's experienced such a loss of confidence over the past few years. He wasn't scoring at the end of his spell with Liverpool, then he moved to Chelsea and was put on the bench. In-between he's had injuries. Today he chested down the ball with the defence beaten, and then missed the ball with the goal awaiting... It wouldn't surprise me if he was/is in a very dark place, considering what he's done as a youngster and rising star, and then to suffer for a couple of years. Hope I'm wrong about that though.

I think it's a combination of all the above. He's definitely down on confidence, but at the same time his general play is very good and enthusiasm still high. He also seems to still be pretty quick, so don't see pace as a problem.
With all the new players, there was an expectation that he would now bang them in for fun. However, new players, same old problems for our team. Absolutely appalling midfield play means Torres rarely gets good ball, and our "new" stars run around looking more like Arsenal players with about the same success.
This is still a misfiring, directionless team ,which is extremely frustrating to watch. You want to think it will soon click, but against teams that are well disciplined , the only change I can see is we still struggle to score, but now do it more stylishly.
One final point, which may seem trivial, but I think is important. No JT or Lamps, so Cech gets the armband. For Christs sake, we need a captain in the JT mould every game, driving people on. That's not Cech. For mine, it's Cahill, every time he plays and JT doesn't.

Dont care what people think of the guy but when JT and Lamps aren't on Cole should be captain, actually tries driving the team on with his play

Should've got a back-up forward in the last window we took an awful risk in backing Torres. As for the rest of the team still looks like a work in progress I think our lofty position is flattering to say the least. Not surprised by the struggle against the Stonehenge Strollers - pleased with Oscar, one of the few players we have that can work his way into promising positions. Quite a few tough games coming up and with 7 teams battling for the top 4 places would be helpful if Torres can find his happy place.....failing that we might have to try Moses as emergency cover if Sturridge is still out.

He'll never get back to his best! I'd surprised if he scores 15 goals this season.

I honestly think Sturridge should start the next 2-3 games ( If he's not injured ) I reckon he would be pretty good with Oscar, Mata, Hazard behind him!

I dont think having Hazard, Mata and Oscar behind him helped one little bit! I just wonder if playing 4-4-2 and pairing him with Sturridge might be worth a try?

Hallejulajh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally a rational suggestion !!!!! Torres as 1 up front is utterly hopeless with our spluttering, inept midfield. After years of the long ball game," pass it over the midfield to Drogba" play, why are we suprised that it doesn't work with Torres????
He's a ****ing midget for Christs sake, knocked, pushed ,nudged off the ball every time it is played long to him
We saw Juve with a back 3 absolutely frighten the pants off us.
Instead of playing to some dogmatic notion of 1 up front, why the **** don't we play to our strengths?????????????
Robbie, your conservatism, like Carlo Ancellotti, will cost you and us dearly.

Torres confidence is shot t pieces, far too hesitant to pull the trigger, doesnt seem to anticipat anything and half a yard off the pace. haveing said that cant knock his work rate, seems to do very thing but put the ball in the back of the net........ very frustrating. Mabe a spell in the reserves might help so he can bang in plenty of goals and mabe get his confidence back, but then again it might work the opposite..... If he has'nt scored at least 6/7 goals for us in the next 10 games think we should seriously consider off loading him for his own good and Chelsea fc, fug nows what we gotta do with him

Actually his scoring record for Spain is poor, especially when you consider the amount of goals Spain have scored in qualifiers over the years. He only had one great season at pool. He just usn't that good a player. Hyped by the scouse dominated meida

We've been having this same old conversation for not too far off two years now - that's right; two years. If the guy cannot settle and bang them in in that period of time there is absolutely no hope.

What's he got now; 9 in 51/52 Prem' games? FFS that's pitiful whichever way you look at it.

Watching Real vs City last week every time Ronaldo got the ball anywhere near the box you thought 'goal on' here.

Every single time Torres gets the ball in/near the box he looks like frigging Bambi caught in headlights and the next thing you know the opposition has taken the ball off of him.

He's had his day, he's an embarrassment to us and needs to go. We're gonna take a hell of a hit on the price too.

    There are a few problems.

Firstly he was hero worshipped by us and expected you lot to brown nose him instantly. It didn't happen and his ego has been damanged.

I don't think he realised the amount of abuse from leaving us he would get, and I feel he isn't settled at Chelsea and wants to go back to Spain. He is not happy and his confidence is shot.

Basically he thought it would be easy and Chelsea would drop everything and play around him.

He has been unable to adapt, and coupled with a few injuries, has lost his edge.

He's still decent, but if you watch a few vids from what he was like with us, its amazing the difference. Probably running at 65% of what he was.

Do you sell him and make a huge loss? It's not like he reacts well to competition. Tought call.

    This<ok>

Coupled with an owner who has done wonders for the club in terms of success, but who can't help sticking his nose into transfers, player relationships, everyday **** etc etc
