So lets hope he draws another blank against us on Sunday.

"We want to be at the top as soon as we can, so the first step is winning against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge."

His time at Chelsea has been a nightmare in terms of goalscoring, he never played in the FA CUP final and was a bit part player in the CL final.
We got the best out of him because he fitted into our system better.

He was never the same player after Benitez had him playing with pain killing injections, patching him up every other week & sending him out.

He looks a shell of the genuine World Class player that he was at his peak.

It's a fact that he's lost his explosive burst of pace & that he's not been the same player since being patched up & played when he shouldn't have. You can trace his demise back to that period, the end.

Or...you can sometimes trace players losing a bit of pace to them getting older <doh> Undoubtedly injuries take there toll on players but what's your expert medical reasoning as to why it's the "injections"?

Age? behave, he's only 28 now & should be in his prime, but he's been a shadow of his former self & has been for the best part of 3 years.

I didn't say the injections themselves were the cause. Patching him up when not fully fit & having him playing with the aid of injections was directly prior to the start of his demise. Co-incidence?

I'm not pretending to know whether it was coincidence or not. Did Benitez over use him due to only having Ngog as back-up? IMO yes I won't arguie with that but as for the medical reasoning behind it I have no evidence either way and neither do you (obviously).

As for players not losing pace as they get into their late 20s...are you ****ing kidding me?

Tobes, nice to have you on here and all but you don't half spout some ****e sometimes in pursuit of a WUM.

The trick of a good wind up is to pick your targets & timing with care....repeated failures diminish the overall effect of your belters!

Torres had some injuries, associated with his build & style of play. I can list a fair number of forwards who because of their explosive pace over the first 3 yards end up with back, hamstring & knee problems by the end of their twenties. You could just as much blame it on the fact he never had a summer break due to the success of his national team (he was always in the squad whether actually played or not) for a lot of his early twenties.

And sorry lets say you are right? Who gives a stuff. Players get paid millions a year, the very best medical care and support. The price? Used into the ground. Tough if they want good knees at 30 get an office job. We keep getting told here at LFC that we have to view this as a business now. Well Torres although not bought by these owners is a perfect model of what they want the club to do from now on:

Buy a player young, make the most of him on the field; double your money and replace him with another young player before he starts being clapped out & loses value. We just got the replacement bit wrong in this case lol.

    Losing pace at 28, he's only 28.. <laugh>

His body was on the down slide after 22-23 same as the rest of us. Experience is supposed to kick in after that to make up cept his experience is sulking and moaning which doesn't really make up for the lack of pace:)

frank- how is stating that Torres demise started after he was over played when injured wumming? My opinion is that he's never been the same player physically since, a fact that is borne out by his performances, goal scoring record & obvious loss of pace.

I've no idea why you think that's a WU? Is it because I mentioned the sacred name of Benitez???

It'd had evaporated nearly 3 years back, don't tell me that was down to the ageing process mate.

I remember watching him in the last derby he played at Goodison & there was a ball played over the top towards the corner flag. Torres & Distin turned to chase it & Distin gave him a yard start, by the time they'd run the 20-25 yards to the ball Distin was a good yard ahead of him. I remember turning to my mate & saying "he's finished". As the Torres of a year or 2 before would have skinned Distin to the ball. How much of his issues have been mental compared to physical i.e. trusting his body to be able to perform flat out - I've no idea, but he's a shadow of the man who arrived at Anfield.

I wish him well as he was a massive player for us, the best striker we had since Fowler. I don't want him to score but hope he gets a decent reaction. He keeps referring to one day the truth will come out, I look forward to it. He is a nice guy, don't listen to the WUMs

Torres has made his own grave. Thought Chelsea would be better when he should have known that going to a club with no soul would leave him pretty hollow by the end of it too

To answer both WUM's I'm afraid not:

    1) I don't revere Benitez or any other manager for that fact.

    2) the fact that you didn't respond to my other points & focused on this bit doesn't help your cause.

As I say, your posts (& not just on this subject )have had a smart arse remark in them quite a lot after your initial reasonble appearance. so if you actually want debate as you claim I'd time the wind ups better or you'll be viewed the same way as his Lordship above who's "rushed to your defence" . That should tell you something in its self lol. Nothing wrong with a good wind up mind! Just being smart arse in every post makes a dull read.

You contribute quite well on this board Tobes it would be a shame of you were merely dismissed as a generic WUM. Entirely up to you of course!

frank - I'll take that point in general, but not in regards to this thread, you're just being over sensitve on this one imo, as I was being 100% genuine.

I'll smoke the peace pipe with the big lad & the other fella, point taken.
