That's what I said 12 months ago when the first rumblings about the deal with the chavs appeared Doubt this will happen though....25 mill is scandalously over-priced
Only because he's not starting games and it's the euros in 6 months but yeah it's all talkshite bullshit...they have to say something in between all the adverts I suppose.
This speculation must be humiliating for him. He went for the glory and fell flat on his face. Bet he'd love to have an 08/09 season with us again.
I remember the days where we were looking for that partner to play with him, The likes of Robbie Keane, Voronin, N'gog. But now we have Suarez who could of been that player to play alongside him, Such a shame. Also ironically when he left we were all saying how injury prone he is, and he hasn't been injured once has he? If you asked me right now would I have him back at Liverpool, yes or no? I'd say Yes every time. I never blamed him for leaving, the only thing that bothered me was how he conducted himself after leaving, calling us a little club, saying that scoring against us was his 'destiny'. I quickly got over that though, and would love to see him back in a red shirt. Unfortunately it WONT ever happen, and as a result the Premiership will lose another great player. Ifs and buts are horrible things but I guess all I can say is now.. Step up ANDY CARROLL!
Absolutely no chance of this happening! For one theres zero chance Chelsea will take a 25mill hit on him and especially to one of their rivals for a champs league spot, they hardly need the cash. Also I would be astonished if Dalglish would have him back; look at the way he got rid of Aqualani and Meireles. Anybody who is not fully committed is surplus to requirement, he is also hardly going to contribute to unity and team spirit and does not seem to have the respect for Liverpool that Dalglish demands, absolutely no chance!!!!!
I wrote an article about this last month. To summerize i was of the opinion that if Kenny thought he was worth taking a gamble on then i'd be made up, a potentially great partnership with a world class striker. BUT upon reflection im now undecided, following the news in the Daily Mail that chelsea are willing to let him go for 20m (99.9% probably garbage but for sake of argument lets assume this is a possibility), general consensus is sell Big Andy for 20m and buy Torres. I personally feel now that if we were to sell Big Andy to accomadate a 20m striker then torres shouldnt necesarily be the 1st port of call. I just dont know if he still has the desire to be the best anymore, looks completely disinterested at Chelsea wheather thats his attitude or circumstances i dont know, the point im trying to make is it WOULD be a gamble. Not so much on his ability (it sounds wierd to be questioning what a few years ago was the most feared striker on the planet !) more on his state of mind, is he even still up for it ? has he the humilty to prove his worth again ? as his stock has fallen so low it IS necesarry, is he worth a huge contract that he would inevitable require ? If you think about it its actually too big a gamble. we could get a hungrier striker, a younger striker, one in better physical and mental condition and probably one on half the wages he's on at the moment. Yes torres of old would fit fantastically well in this team but lets not pretend Torres is the only striker in the world that can play on the shoulder and stay in and around the box. My 2 cents.
EXCLUSIVE: Give us £20m and Torres is yours! Chelsea will accept huge loss on flop striker http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2073746/Fernando-Torres-sold-20m.html
But if we could bring him back, build his confidence and have him scoring again, that would be a heck of a story. An in form Torres and Suarez is a scary prospect.
As many people have pointed out, Torres looks miserable at Chelsea. I think a move back to Liverpool would re-ignite him as he is a Liverpool fan. Look at Carroll - doesn't look the same since he left his favourite club. Personally, Torres is struggling because Chelsea aren't playing to his strengths. They require a player who plays with his back away from goal and can hold it up and link others i.e. Drogba type. It's no coincidence that as soon as Kenny was in charge, Torres scored 2 in 3 games. Would I take him back? Yes but on a less wages as he needs to prove that he wants to play for the club and prove himself again. I have no concerns about his ability. My only concern is injuries - with the Liverpool style, he will be running onto the ball and using his pace and acceleration which is the cause of his injuries. He doesn't rely on his pace as much at Chelsea because he is close to the goal already. Simply put - Torres was made for Liverpool. Our style suits him.
