Very interesting read. By the sounds of it then Onazaki us one for the owners and i think we'll go all in for him. They are clever though - understand marketing etc. Ambitious but sensible over the timescale of it.
Only bit that worried me was the line about "instead of buying established players and launching a quick and strong bid for the title" I hope that was a line from the journalist and not anything coming from the owners Didnt really tell us anything new as the owners said from day 1 they wanted Premier League football and to extend the stadium We knew they wanted asain players here with Yuki Abe being here and the Thai players in the academy
... am really pleased to see that we are seeking to expand the stadium to 42,000 ... always been my belief that you need a 40k+ level of support to be really self sustaining (and competitive) in the Prem ... and IMHO (with sensible pricing) we would fill that easily provided we continue playing with the type of intensity and emphasis on attack (with pace) that we showed over the last quarter of the season ... football has to be entertaining at the end of the day if it is to transcend the core tribalism of being a fan ... at the moment ours is and long may it continue ... exciting times. ... I also wondered why we appeared to be so intent on our reported pursuit of Shinzi Okazaki ... I think we now have the answer although there is something of a contradiction in the stated aim of strengthening midfield and defence rather than attack ...
I wouldn't be surprised if we expanded sooner rather than later niw we have survived, i wonder how long it would take though, as it may take out a fair few thousand seats while they are building it. I hope that they aren't going to demand that the asian players play, unless they are good enough of course. Best to find a good asian midfielder rather than look to replace Vardy/Ulloa/Kramaric.
There isn't many good asian players though, Japan have a midfielder called Honda who shoots from pretty much any spot on the pitch and actually does score sometimes I think Okazaki would replace Wood
I think we will want 5 strikers for next season Ulloa, Kramaric, Vardy, Nugent and Okazaki Nugent has another year on his deal and I think that will be the time to let him go. He proved last season he still has something to offer
Keisuke Honda is superb ... he would be a real coup ... golden boy of Japanese football ... not sure that he will leave AC Milan to join us mind
