It's obviously a shared development,shared funding and shared,secured debt to finance capital building.

You won't be debt free it will be transfered from Dunfraud to new investors,new stadium,new debt,if it's built,unless Dunfraud got his paws on it and Higgs is just a paid front man again.

I think there should be an FA investigation into the way they conned the rugby ground off of Bristol Rugby Club for a derisory amount and the way they are greedily profiteering by the sale to Sainsburys for £20 plus millions,Bristol Rugby should have a big share,after all they maintained that ground for years after it was given in memory of all the folks that gave their lives in the name of freedom.

I've just read this just as a passing comment from Nick Higgs, " "We will be asking for an extension of the current planning permission on the Memorial Stadium site which will give us a back up should there be a problem in the future."

They can't be that confident that all will be well then,caution "gasheads"..
 
Being cautous is no bad thing.....certainly something you couldn't accuse Sexstone of being! Having a Plan B is good strategic thinking. Do City have a Plan B.(Actually, does Millen have a Plan A?!)
You're just being mischievous old boy. You must admit that the proposed stadium is aesthetically pleasing, not like that carbuncle of a red whorehouse you lot have got planned!
 
Oh and as for Maynard as this thread originally started out to be about One Bad Season, One Good Season and One Season on the Sidelines Injured at Championship Level suggests no one will gamble too much money just yet?
 
HMmmm,so if The Memorial Stadium Company( Of which Dunford is the majority Shareholder and not BRFC) own the mimimal and sell it to Sainsburys and therefore receive the £20m plus,how come BRFC who like Bristol Rugby Club were tenants of the Memorial Stadium Company be able to finance and own the proposed new stadium and claim ownership..?

Or will Dunford own it and Rovers and Bristol Rugby pay rent to his new front company,in other words you still won't own your own stadium and Dunford will be quids in as before..

...still very dodgy and the FA should look into the original purchase and this latest exercise and see where Dunford stands and compensate Bristol Rugby and the memorial fund very heavily.

Boys boys boys. Shouldn't both our sets of supporters be cheering for both City and Rovers to get spanking new stadiums? The city of Bristol has long dwelled in the back woods of first class sporting venues and the development of 2 such locations would at least bring our city back to the spotlight and hopefully spur both sets of supporters to go out and help their respective teams to achieve higher status.

Build them and they will come, if only to sit on a comfortable seat.
 
invermeremike, you would think both sets of supporters would be happy but 'some' (not all) city fans think rovers are not a rival and have no interest in us at all. yet have sour grapes about us <laugh>
i can see rovers getting the stadium and good news coming citys way very shortly <ok>
 
Finally some sanity captjack. I know we are rivals, and have been since time in memorial (sorry for pun), but surely the betterment of the entire city should be the prime concern.

A new stadium for both teams would enhance the status of the city for years to come. Now both teams would need to step forward and be counted to justify new homes and that is within the realm of possibilty. Isn't it?

to be honest i was never against city getting a new stadium. i made that point several times on 606. i just didnt like how city hid behind the world cup and forcing everyone to jump on the world cup bandwagon. but i have always said fair shout to city if they get their new stadium without hiding behind the world cup.

you put up a post rambling on about how you couldn't afford 10p a week in your taxes toward our stadium. I don't know who you think you're kidding!
 
umm, that is the truth. i said several times i wasnt against city getting their new stadium. but was against the world cup bid as you were using that to get your stadium - fact! i didnt want the world cup in bristol due to the extra taxes i would pay confirming your comment. i dont want to pay any taxes to contribute towards your stadium. however if you get your stadium with me paying taxes which means no world cup, then fair shout to your club. i said that several times. get over it <ok>
 
good point. i will send that idea to the club to get us extra income. we can charge people £10 if they want to come and sell things and charge people £5 for those looking to buy. our new car park will be big enough for us to do this. great shout <ok> extra income :)

we are already doing 'buy a brick' which will be put in the stadium with our name on it :) (paragraph 9) http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10328~2374611,00.html i guess charge £50 for this. i bet there will be many people doing that as well :)
