Who do we think our top goalscorer will be this season and how many do ya reckon they will get?

It could be a number of people really, most likely I think is McCormack just because he is proven in this league and has also scored 20+ in this league before but will he play deeper not allowing him to score as many?

A lot of people are touting Poleon to shine and really thrive under the new style that BMD will play and he could score some goals this season too. I think it is a matter of whether he breaks through and shows the capability to hold his own in this league. For me he seems like our most natural finisher but might struggle to break into the first team.

Saying that Smith was signed because of his giant size and will win almost everything in the air that is sent his way, I think he could prove to be a magnificent signing and I reckon he'll score goals but he may find it hard without out and out wingers providing him the service. He seems to have missed a few chances in pre-season but I think once he gets the confidence he'll be knocking em in when he gets the chance.

Varney is another one that could thrive under BMD's different style and has actually looked in pretty good shape this pre-season having already picked up a hat trick. It would also appear that McDermott likes him having played him against Nurnberg which most are tipping to be a very similar line-up to Brighton.

Hunt would also be a contender given the fact he'll be fighting for one of those striking positions. Doesn't have the most fantastic goalscoring record but he has played on the wing for a huge part of his career and you'll find his goalscoring is a lot better when played as a striker. Also a player that is very good in the air and actually reminds me a hell of a lot like a young Michael Owen the way he times his jumps perfectly.

Anyone else I'm missing who could be a contender? Or do you think we are yet to sign our top scorer (I personally highly doubt it but there have been people on here who have been saying we need to sign yet another striker)

Also I think we will share the goals around the team a lot more than we did last season without heavily relying on any one player. With that in mind I'm gonna say McCormack with 16 goals

I was tempted to vote for Leesog but decided on Varney. Have an idea either he or Smith will have a key role, not sure about either tbh, but think Varney is miore likely than Smith as I think he is very unfinished (as always, delighted to be proven wrong)

I'd have to say Varney, as he seems to have turned a corner. But its all still very much up in the air in terms of starting eleven/formation at this early stage.

Any number of combinations are possible up front and I'm fearing we might not know our best partnership until xmas (not ideal). Can see all 5 strikers finishing on 6 each :emoticon-0111-blush . Hopefully I'm wrong and one of the guys steps up and bangs them in, making BMDs selection decision easy, and has a 20+ season!

Was only fair that I should vote for Smith as nobody else had, and you never know he may score 40-goals this season.

    Nor do I

Return of the Max would be good, but he's injured anyway

This is my main concern, I don't feel we have anyone to bag us 20 goals, if the highest scorer does manage 15 goals then we are in trouble as I can't see another 3-4 players chipping in with 10-12 each.
