Congrats to Ash and Angel for being the top 2 of the best 5 in OPTA's best passers in the Premier League. Big shout to Vorm for being the 2nd best goalkeeper (although I reckon he performances have obliterated De Gea who is No1). Nice one to the whole team for leading the passing league.

Now guys, hows about some goals to round it all off. We all know you can do it!

PS from a fellow person who's undertall....a shout out to Nathan, Joe, Leon and Wayne for making the top 20 vertically challenged...... the best things come in small packages guys!

I love seeing this kind of stuff. If we're managing to complete this many passes, a bit of tinkering and a bit of luck up front and we'll be fine. STID.

Edit: special mention should go to Caulker! 198 completed passes in 3 games, and 86% completion rate overall. For a guy new to our club, that's nothing short of incredible!

I knew you'd be on this like a rash, butt! Haha.

Good analysis from whoever is doing that.

Also, we're easily top of the fair play league, and what's encouraging is that we're not shy in the tackle... it's just we don't play rough football. Backdoor entry into Europe? Too early to tell, but if early form is any indication we'll be in with a shout at the end of the season.

This has been done to death on Leeeeeooooonnnnn's post. Passing don't get points guys. Do you think Stoke stayed in the Prem by completing the most passes? Goals get points. It's where you put that spherical thing across the line between those two sticky things. Ask Cansdell-Sherriff how it's done.

Yes and it was done 69 times last season, also by keeping the ball we had the second best defence in the league. Onto this season we have played just 3 games and we are progressing on, and not regressing , tell me how that goes by the way, forgotten how going backwards feels like ;)

I agree with the first part of your response Jaeger. The Prem is a different kettle of fish though and the game is played slightly differently. Teams will be happy to let you have the ball in your own half and are less likely to be teased out to chase the ball. Defenses are much stronger in this division.

As to the secong part of your answer, time will tell if we have regressed. It cetrainly is a different side with less individual flair, but looks as if it could be a much more ballanced side. Earnie scores more goals than Chops and Miller more than Bothroyd. We've a new centrehalf that looks better than what we've got and a new left back that is certainly better than anything we've had in the last few seasons. Centre mid looks more ballanced though we are lacking numbers out wide.

Last season, when we were good we were very, very good but at times were dire. This season, the highs won't be as high, but also I don't expect the lows to be so low.

We may regress in regard to league performance, but I believe we are moving forward in terms of building a team.

I don't get your point though ccfc. Are you honestly suggesting we'd be better off completely changing our style of play? I'd rather play the way we do, and only have to find that extra bit of guile up front to bag some goals, than play **** football. In fact, I'd rather be relegated than see us play like Stoke.

No, Scottswan I'm not, far from it. I think you should stay true to your style of play. What I'm saying is, don't get carried away with the stats, they could be misleading. Rogers needs to work out how he builds on your obvious strengths by giving you a cutting edge.

The only reason I brough stoke into the conversation was to point out that passing won't keep you up, equally, you don't need to be good passers to stay up.

Pulis found a style that kept his team up and over the last few seasons has gradually changed his style to make it more attractive. Allardyce did the same with Bolton.

Stick to your guns regarding style, but don't be seduced by the stats.

As an asside, the strange thing for me in the transfer window was the fact that your strong point is defence and you signed more defenders (I know you've unfortunately lost Beaker for the season) whereas you aren't scoring goals but you don't sign a striker.

Speaking of stats I hope for your sakes that Routledge doesn't increase his personal record. He's the only person to play for 7 different prem side and never score a goal. Lets hope he doesn't make it 8. You could do with him chipping in with a few.

    Agreed.

I don't think anyone is being blinded by the stats, in fairness... it's just quite nice to see the name "Swansea" at the top of a few official PL charts! We could have only dreamed of that kind of thing years ago...

I think we brought in defenders as cover more than anything. We know our defence is probably our strongest asset, but any injuries and we'd lose that, which would pretty much ruin any chance we had of getting anything out of any match. I still think Danny Graham will come good, but I'm not expecting us to bang in buckets of goals this year. I'd be happy with a load of 0-0's and 1-0's if I'm honest!

I'm going to stick some money on Routledge to score for us against someone really good I think, probably worth a fiver!
