Hi RBF bor, this sums it up perfectly, your end statement. Managers come, managers go That´s just a part of the game, Some we´ll be happy we got to know Some we will wish, never came, But through it all, as many have said The fans still make up the backbone, That which has stood us so long in good stead Won´t be rocked by one man alone. I must admit I'm a bit perplexed by Lambert's departure. We heard his statement he was happy at Norwich and got on well with the fans, yet since leaving, he has made subsequent remarks that all was not well behind the scenes. Two conflicting statements. Norwich were in a no-win situation. If they did the same as Colchester and allowed Villa to approach Lambert, like Colchester it could be construed they no longer wanted to retain his services. Lambert used the Anticipatory clause to resign and leave Colchester. Norwich were insistent they did not want to lose Lambert as manager, so dismissal was never on the agenda. That can only mean Lambert wanted away and consequently invoked the clause in his contract to do so. A very apt quotation comes to mind: "What profits a man if he gains the world but by so doing loses his soul." Lambert certainly has lost the goodwill of our fans. No doubt in my mind, Lambert's three year tenure was the best in the history of the club; but there was always the feeling he was just waiting for the opportunity to leave for another club, hence the rolling contract. As Villa manager it now his job to ensure they improve on their present league position even if that means undoing the three years he enjoyed at Norwich. Bluntly put, if it is a question of Norwich or Villa for the drop, he will do everything possible to ensure Villa stay up. Looking on the bright side, we now have a manager who is committed to our cause, Dr Who-ton has every incentive to do well here and hopefully his stay is long and constructive. My regards to the King of Denmark, long may he reign.
Evening NORKIE, would have got back to you sooner but have been busy with his lordship all day. Really the why´s and wherefore´s of Lambert´s departure interest me not a lot to be honest, and I´m sure we´ll never get the true story from either side anyway, just needs to be ended now, so that we can concentrate on moving forwards. Of the two sides on Saturday we were by far the more inventive and threatening, so I´m perfectly at peace with Mr. Hughton in charge, and I don´t relish Lambert his new job one bit. The way he left us has soured his three years for some people, but that´s only natural, personally I wish him all the best, and for me he´ll always stand up there with he best of them, for what he did, and the way he did it. Incidentally I would have thought this ´Top & Drop´ would have been just up your street, there´s still plenty of time to join you know
Roighto RBF bor, but quiet here at moment. Crib starts this week but dominoes a fortnight later. My prediction for end of month is: 1 Man Utd 2 Chelsea 3 Man City 4 Everton 5 WBA 6 Newcastle. 18 Reading 19 Villa 20 Saints

1. Man City 2. Man Utd 3. Chelsea 4. Arsenal 5. Spurs 6. Everton Bottom 3: 18. Norwich 19. Reading 20. Southampton
Thx RBF - and I'm pleased to see you guys doing well. I think you will stay up again, my prediction for the (end of season) drop is Saints QPR and Villa
Would like to see Saints stay up,the other two can go though.Southampton are this seasons Blackpool but some of them think they are going take 16 points from their next 10 games.Delusional.
I agree. Sadly, I think Saints are too fragile at the back. They should stick with Adkins and aim to invest to come back up - even do a WBA yoyo for a few years. They have the foundations - just risen very rapidly.
Thought I was too late to have a go at this but as you've said there's room for anyone else who's interested thought I'd have a go at it Top 6: Man Utd Chelsea Man City Arsenal Tottenham Everton Bottom 3 Aston Villa Reading QPR
