I think we both said that anyway, that the club needs a lift or we'd be easily in the relegation mix.

Newcastle isn't a hard nut to crack, one big signing and the place is happy and optimistic. For too long Mike was far too happy to sign low cash bargain signings and then acted confused at fan anger.

    Now he's figured it out.

Ye you need that big ass signing, wakens everyone up.

Far too relaxed at Spuds I think - Jose screaming everyday wont do it.

Bale could bring spurs back into the fold for top 3/6 if he and Kane can stay fit.

Quick fix tho init cos they badly need fresh blood all over but I can see why it's an attractive deal for them at the moment.

And everyone getting Hyped about Everton ffs <laugh>
7th /8th tops. Might do well in a cup. And possibly win a Derby this year which will feel like a cup for the joy starved miserable peasants.

I think personally - and obvs i aint nearly as clued in as the actual fans, Spurs' board are way too quick to rest on their laurels.

Mentality of "we just got a new stadium, that'll do em." Or "Kane's a good player, why do we need more?" Just not a top 6 mentality tbph. For me, top teams need to be always thinking "what's next" not, "that was nice." Its why Liverpool worry me, I don't think they're going at this window like "NEED to win another one now." Maybe Thiago will happen and its gonna be sound tho.

Everton fans have a reason to be chuffed, think some of the neutrals are going over board like. But ffs, Leeds were getting top 8 shouts from some, christ.

quick fix is good with me...****in sick of buying players that might come good in 6 years time.

Best thing about it is...if he joins...all them players, including Kane will realise what elite levels are and they have to up it, all of them

    superstar signing

    bet it doesn’t happen

I have a feeling Arsenal might slip into the top 4. Arteta puts them on a par with Utd and Chelsea, imo. I don’t see Spurs finishing 6th and Wolves have played loads with the Europa and then back into it again, because of that I’ll go with Leicester or Everton for 6th.

I so hope that you’re right on that one. We need that monkey off our back.

We got rid of the not winning away at any of the supposed Big 6 hoodoo on Sunday (sorry mate)

I wonder if you’d be chasing Bale if you’d have won well on Sunday? We’ll never know, but I doubt the feeling of the club needing a big lift would be the same, given you finished last season with top 4 form post lockdown.

If you can land him and keep him fit, he’s a game changer for Spurs imo.

Arsenal pinning down Aubameyang is massive for them. He’s a genuine top drawer striker, and his goals are absolutely vital for that side. The question mark over Arsenal is their defensive solidity, Gabriel is a very good addition but whether he’s enough to transform their backline is debatable. They won’t be far off though imo.

A blessing in disguise...I defo think that defeat, to a team threatening to break into the top 6 was a bit of a wake up call for Levy and Jose probably told him as much.

Auba signing is a massive boost for us, and because I’m so happy about it I won’t mention that comment of yours about it being his last game after the FA cup final :emoticon-0103-cool:

Defensively we look in better shape, simply from a tactical point of view. We also have Saliba coming in (although he’s untested in the prem) Gabriel who’s made a instant impact as well as Tierney who’s been brilliant and a resurgent Bellerin.

On paper we should be challenging for too 4. I think a lot will depend on the form of Utd, Leicester, Wolves, Everton and the rest of the chasing pack.

You can if you like, I thought he’d leave I’m not going to deny it, as all the signs pointed to it. So persuading him to stay is a result.

I’ll reserve judgment on your defensive improvement until we’ve seen about 10 games.
