Newcastle United have made their move for want-away Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy – even though the French international snubbed them in the January transfer window, writes the Sunday People.

The Toon hierarchy have contacted Remy’s representative and they are hoping that by making an early move, they can steal a march on Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs who are also all keen on Remy.

In normal circumstances Newcastle would not be expected to go back for a player who publicly turned them down just months ago, but his £8million release clause at Loftus Road is a telling factor.

No chance, Wenger will snap him up, they're made for each other. Arsenal might be a decent price for the Premier League next season and worth an each way bet now before they sign him...

Makes me laugh. Daily Mail has him today linked with Napoli and AC Milan (After saying it was Liverpool a week or so back)
So am i right that to be a football journalist talking about transfers of a player, you just pick out as many teams as possible, hope at least one is correct (Of course the more you pick, the more your chances of being right), and then proudly say "We told you so !!"
Pathetic !! He'll go for sure, but those twats aint got a clue who to.

Attempt to distract him before the game. Not unusual tactic. (Yawn).

Remys going to be the one player that's gonna kill me see him playing for another PL team because I know his going to score loads of goals for them and each week we're going to be saying that he should have being playing for us. What about a season loan only and if we get promoted he comes back to us?

Lazy journalism. Even a gifted footballer (i.e those with the lowest IQ) know that if Toon lose today they may yet be joining us in the Championship. Stealing a march? Yeah. dream on. They stole a march in January and he lost his way finding himself to the signing, making his way to West London instead of St james' Park. Mind you it is an easy mistake to make. They have those Sports Direct outlets all over the place. he probably got confused by the advertisement boards.

Not that I believe he'd go for it, but his release clause only means they can talk to him, it doesn't mean he can't stay if he wants to. If we persuaded him with a massive bonus if he stays and goes out on loan and comes back if we are promoted.

But this is just wishful thinking, the reality is he's about the only one who we will be able to get rid of, meaning we probably will sell him as we might get stuck with the players we don't want to keep.

But I agree, the thought of losing him is proving far more difficult than dealing with the blow of relegation.

Nobody is worth a massive bonus. Perhaps Tony will let him at win at FIFA13 or whatever it was that he claims was the clincher to bring him to LR. The parachute payment is meant to cushion the blow and allow us a chance with prudent cost-cutting and investment to have a good go at it next season or while rebalancing our finances. It's not to be spent on trying to keep an overpaid player on our books for another season in the hope that we will go back up in time for him to renegotiate another bonus in order to stay with us then.
