this lad looks very like Ranger to me....

Newcastle have been reported to be interested in Éderzito António Macedo Lopes, who goes by the much simpler name of Eder and plays for Braga as a forward.

This link to Eder may not be a strong one since Sky Sports have said Newcastle are interested in the striker.

With Newcastle already having only three strikers, and Demba Ba having that release clause of his active again in January, Newcastle must line up at least one striker before January, in case the Senegal striker decides to leave Newcastle.

Everton were interested in the player last January when he was still at Académica in Portugal, but he moved to SC Braga in the summer.

In Northern Ireland’s great 1-1 draw at Portugal on Tuesday night, the player was linked with Newcastle by one of the commentators, but how true that link is – is hard to tell.

Newcastle will be linked with lots of different strikers in the next three months.

Eder stands 6’2″ tall and is only 24, so he fits the profile of players Newcastle will be after, and he’s also not a high profile player who would cost too much.

So again he fits the profile of players Newcastle can get on the cheap.

Eder was born in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau and has played for the full Portuguese side three times.

If Graham Carr is recommending this player – that’s good enough for us.

Apparently there was an article on soccernet about C. Ronaldo and his Portugese exploits. In it, they criticised the Portugese manager for not putting on Eder earlier, who was the best target man type Portugal had...

I think if we get rid of ranger he would be an ideal replacement... much more a step up in quality too.

We could do with a strong 3rd option.

No way. This is not the Newcastle way! If Demba does leave, we must at least wait the obligatory 3 transfer windows before the lack of depth is resolved, you all know that!

You should all be ashamed of yourselves <laugh>
