He's young, talented and English so for £7m would be a snip IMHO..

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...-transfers-wilfried-zaha-4030189#.U-c2vvldVNp

Newcastle are heading a three-club chase for £7million Manchester United misfit Wilfried Zaha, writes Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.

The Toon want to add the out-of-favour winger to their side as they carry on spending in an ambitious summer spree.

Zaha, 21, has tried to impress new boss Louis van Gaal, but a big-money offer will still spell the end of his brief spell at Old Trafford.

The Reds bought Zaha from Crystal Palace in a deal worth up to £15m – but only £10m of that fee was a guaranteed payment.

So his current £7m price tag is not a major loss or an embarrassment for the United money men – and it is also low enough to interest old club Palace.

Championship side Nottingham Forest are also keen on a loan deal for the England prospect, who worked with boss Stuart Pearce at under-21 level.

Was looking good prior to his big move. Question mark now, and I'm not sure if we need him?

I think Pards is right in saying we need more of an English backbone to the squad. The thought of Zaha and Aarons tearing defences a new one over the coming years is quite exciting.

We certainly do not need an English backbone! We need a better manager, somoeone who can apply tactics and not hoofball and have back up plans.

As for Aarons, I hope he makes it - just worried that when he goes on a poor run of games the boo boys will come out like they have done over the last 20 years

Is this genuine? I'd be surprised to see us shell out around £7m for another young attacking player given the transfers we've already completed.

Don't forget HBA is out of the picture as is Jonas so the fact that Pards seems to be bigging up Obertan highlights that we aren't completely over flowing with attacking talent.
Reference Sammy.. I honestly don't think he is good enough and I'd take Saha over Sammy all day long personally.

I agree with that, I just think unless we actually offload at least one of HBA, Jonas, Ober or Sammy then I can't see Mike paying out again.

I don't want him and I don't reckon we need him. We need a striker with ability not some overrated winger who is too greedy and loses the ball more often than not. This guy didn't exactly set the world alite at Cardiff and I can't see him doing it here either. He would be an Obertan mark 2 in my honest opinion.

Some could argue that an offensive player in a relegated team would have little opportunity to shine given the 10 outfield players will be defending most of the time though..

Not for me. An unnecessary addition to the squad given the amount of attackers already here. Would be surprised if we play with out and out wingers this season anyway. Also we all know what happened the last time we brought a young winger from Man Utd!

The ones we already have are mainly ****

Man Utd always sell us duds. I was pissed off when the media unleashed a jizzfest over Zaha just after he signed for them, as if he was going to be the best thing since sliced bread. He looked decent, but in the championship- so did Shola! Don't rate him, and certainly not for £10-15m which is what Man Utd paid for him.

He's 21 and can be a world-beater if just given regular playing time.

I would snap their hands off for £7m <ok>

Im pretty suprised most talking on here wouldnt want him. Ive seen him play probably the same amount as everyone else has and he has aleays looked like a decent player.

If he was 21 amd coming througg our ranks wed all be raving about how skillfull, fast strong he is etc.

He is in a diferent class to sammy and obertan so that is a non starter! HBA and jonas are out the picture so surley it makes sense to get someone to play instead of them.

Be happy to see him, but at the moment I am desperate for us to be linked to defensive players. My concern is having no DM when Tiote's injured/suspended/ACN-bound, and having the likes of Saylor and Willo fighting for a starting berth. Don't honestly know what Pardew's playing at here.
