See Luton won the Championship Play Off. From what I remember watching them play Sunderland they are like Wimbledon on steroids so should be an interesting away fixture. With a capacity of around 10000 its going to be a difficult one for away fans, with only 1000 available. Its interesting that there are all sorts of rules for club grounds to allow promotion from non-league to lower leagues but presumably not for the PL. Pitch is already 5m short and 3m too narrow for PL but they can give a special dispensation to allow it to be used.
Yeah, they're planning to demolish and rebuild one of the stands, add a little to the capacity, install new floodlights and TV camera positions, add/improve corporate hospitality and put in new toilets. They have around 2.5months to get it done and I think they're expecting it to come to £10 - £15million.
How much cash did Luton get for being promoted? Surely they can afford to add a new corrugated steel stand like, not expensive. A lot of teams are going to ****ing hate going there, it's going to be cold, moldy, miserable and unwelcoming. I cannot imagine players like Bruno or Joelinton enjoying themselves there. Could be a place I'd in fact expect us to get beat.
Sounds like most of the upgrade money is being spent on media facilities. They could probably make a lot more money by switching to Wembley but then lose the advantage of the tight ground. Staying in the PL would be worth far more than the revenue from extra bodies so the fact that they are not considering switching shows they are planning to make a go of it. Agree there will be lots of teams who won’t be keen on playing there but they will need much more quality to survive in PL. They looked weak in midfield and at the back.
