I have now calmed down after last night's performance and result. The only player i would have given passed marks to last night was coquelin, i thought he was very good on the ball and provided lots of energy and legs in the middle, everytime he got on the ball he seemed to lift the tempo of the game, along with cazorla at times. But the fact is that our team has far too many players that seem content with letting the game drift by and not influencing it in any way. Nobody was willing to make runs or options for the passer and when you play the expansive passing game that we do when players don't make space and options then we look well below average. Yes people can point to the fact that we have injuries and too be honest they may have a point, wilshere sagna diaby frimpong oxo walcott gibbs scezney, its a big list and hopefully they will be returning soon. But for maybe our fringe players like santos ramsey etc this is the time when you want to play at the top of your game and show the manager that you deserve a starting place, but now i'm sure everyone connected with arsenal can't wait for diaby wilshere gibbs and oxo especially to return. As soon as they got the first goal all i could feel was that we were definately going to lose the game, we created virtually next to nothing just like in the norwich game and thats very worrying. The team seemed void of creativity unless we got cazorla on the ball and we can't rely on him, arteta and ramsey should be able to create opportunities. Also when defending we have far too many players who really aren't committed to the cause, podolski gervinho and ramsey in particular, they got down our right side far too often and podolski was often found jogging back and then not making any real attempt to stop the cross, podolski was actually one of the players that i was most dissappointed with. I think that wenger should play him down the middle because he is not a winger, he isn't very good at beating a player 1 vs 1 he doesnt track back very well, and he doesnt seem to have alot of pace. Also he doesn't seem to be in time with our passing game and when he drops deep he is more trouble than he's worth if i'm honest. Gervinho lost the ball every time he was in possession but if there were cheers when he was brought off then that is disgusting and if any arsenal fans took part in that then they should never go to another arsenal game, what good does that really do for anyone??? all it does is hinder gervinho's confidence but yes he does need to improve his decision making. And santos was a nightmare (hurry up and get fit again gibbs). I mean for us fans things will get better, we have players coming back from injury etc but for the players playing for a first team place they will be demoted to the bench and tbh its what they deserve.
There were a few cheers when Gervinho's number first went up but it stopped pretty quickly and he was clapped off. Maybe next game try playing Coquelin in the holding role and move Arteta up alongside Cazorla, he's the only other player in the team that can actually create anything
Might as well give Arshavin a chance in the midfield. He has had one start this season, and he did well, granted it was against Coventry. Move Cazorla to the right or left, he might get more space to work his magic.
