Peter Crouch is the latest to be added to the list of Stoke City's collection of former Saints: Peter Crouch Kenwyne Jones Ricardo Fuller Andrew Davies Rory Delap Danny Higginbotham Also James Beattie previously I do find it all rather uncanny... Does Tony Pulis have a thing for players that have played in the red and white of Southampton? Who knows?
Maybe it's just that the players themselves like the red and white stripes, so they are attracted to the best-placed team wearing them? Stern John was at Sunderland before us, always surprised he didn't end up at Stoke. And Kenwyne went to Sunderland before Stoke.
Higginbotham was also at Sunderland in between his two spells at Stoke. Always thought the same - perhaps they'll end up at Sheffield United towards the twilights of their careers. Red and white stripes is the best shirt going! Higginbotham is probably the unlikeliest ex-Saint to start forging a TV career though!
I find it blatantly obvious! When we were Premier League, we were the best fans! Now Stoke are! Both wear famous red and white stripes, both begin with 'S', and both always posed a massively difficult game for the top clubs. They all just miss home, but need the premier league too
