Really sorry to see Tony is going, has been a good servant to the club, and he was the one initially to do a great job with the academy and then later coach the first team. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hull-city-first-team-coach-6768111
If that’s the case Acun’s making a huge mistake! Hopefully things work out, but so far his reign is looking a bit downward, rather than the expected push upward!
How on earth is his reign looking downward? We’ve got an owner who flies thousands of miles to watch us.
Sad to see him go. Great servant of the club. Hope he gets a decent severance package if he’s been given notice before the end of his contract.
Buckingham said his notice period ran until the end of the season rather than he’d been given notice.
So far he’s employed a manager with no Championship experience, who’s game plan is very similar to the manager he replaced, Acun said he wanted to keep the youth players coming through & now has apparently given notice to the man who’s helped the youth players push through. So far Acun has said a lot of things that sound good, but the team is no better than before, yes he’s only had a short transfer window, so the whole thing is an unknown. I don’t know what he’s expecting, saying he’s going to spend big money & we’ll be challenging for promotion, we’ve seen it numerous times with teams & failing, we need more than a big money striker. The way he came across was, he’d put his man in charge, his takeover would immediately transform the team & we’d be looking at challenging for promotion next year, so far, we’re pretty much the same ****e we were before he came in, still in a desperate battle against relegation, still need a lot of work in the summer for new players IF we’re still in the Championship!
He's employees a manager with UEFA experience, as well as coaching experience at the top of the Dutch league after spending decades as a player in Europe's top leagues. He's no more of a risk than any other manager - especially considering messers Bruce, Warnock, Mccarthy etc's recent form in this league. Perhaps the reason Shota is playing Grants style is that he still has Grants players? We are a bottom 3 budget. This season was all about survival. That was never going to change this season with the new owners having about 5 days to work in a transfer window. Tell me which teams we have mostly better players than and should be beating this season to push us up the table? We are a team of frees from L1&2 and promising academy players who are going to be inconsistent. It really looks to me like you are looking for negatives. Everyone would have taken survival and new owners at the start of the season. I'm not seeing any deterioration in overall form whether it's Shota or McCann as we were gash at times before the change anyway. We're exactly where we should be given the budget/squad limitatiins and we really can't judge Shota or the new regime until they are able to make the investment they have indicated they are going to.
Lots of things can be done. Working against the odds though with a budget like ours. Fact remains most teams in this league have better, more experienced and more physical players than we do currently.
Yet we brought in players who haven’t done anything for us And we could have gotten rid of cannon moncur hudd to free up more money as we aren’t using them
Can only get rid if they have takers and the players want to go. Don't think it's fair to write off a manager after 9 games and only a few days of a Jan window to work in. Besides, 8 points from 9 isn't significantly worse than his predecessor with essentially the same squad.
The manager has won titles in Uzbekistan, he’s been in coaching set ups with top coaches, I would expect him to have a lot better ideas than McCann had, be able to get the players to play a better style of football, be able to see what is & isn’t working, have a better plan than, if we’re losing, then stick more strikers on, out of position & expect goals! As I’ve said, I hope it works out, appointing Shota & letting Pennock go, but I really hope Acun’s not playing Football Manager with Hull City & expecting the same outcome!
Would be handy if you could save the season and replay games with different tweaks until we won them, wouldn't it?
