Disingenious twat? Considering the club stood buy him through prison sentences...alcohol problems etc. Wenger gave him a new lease of life and now has the temerity to talk like this. BTW still can't beleive he pulled Caprice
Adams is an idiot. One of my all time favourite players but an idiot nontheless. Firstly the Higuain comment: “My fear is that if Real don’t want him, you are coming in under that". “If you want to compete with Real Madrid you don’t get their cast-offs. You need the best players in the league to win the league.” You could say this about just about ANY player sold from a large club throughout History. We certainly could have said the same thing about Henry or Vieira back in the day. Basically its sceptiscm just for the sake of being critical. Higuains record speaks for itself. As for the Rooney comments: “I’m not sure Wayne Rooney could handle London, to be completely honest. That would be a massive risk." Manchester is not exactly the wilderness, If you want to go out and drink you are going to do it regardless of location. (Also I remeber from Tony Adams's biography he and Merson would leave London to go drinking because the media attention made it difficult to misbehave.)
I really think this is more about the journos asking Adams leading questions like "Would there be any risks in signing Rooney" or "Is there any reason Arsenal shouldn't have appointed Chips as Chairman" followed by "So they could have appointed you" and Adams is too thick to realise that they want to get the quotes to print misleading stories. I'm not trying to defend him, just saying it how I see it.
Well from the quotes bear has provided I hardly think the OP is justified in his attack. Fine the quotes aren't great but all they are really are him expressing concerns , invalid ones in my opionion but thats about it. Could someone provide the article where he said he wants to be chairman, I am guessing that is what has got the OP riled. But so far not much in it.
Adams was possibly our best ever captain but he isn't the sharpest tool in the box.He was stupid talking to the media knowing they would use it to create headlines
He has earned the right to say whatever he wants about Arsenal. He is clearly not chairman material but he has made himself available on numerous occasions for certain roles in the club and has always been snubbed. Surely we can give him some sort of ambassadorial role, I mean he has a fecking statue outside the Emirates.
To be honest, his statue is probably more use than the real thing at Arsenal. I've got the utmost respect for what he did for us when he was a player, but as a manager he is ****e and as an ambassador I think he'd have more foot in mouth moments than anything that would promote the club. Arsenal legend, but best left as that I think
It's not so much what he's said now...it's the last year or so...he isn't really helping the situation with his comments. I'm not sure it's journos laying a trap for him either..he doesn't realise that dealing with the media is different from chest thumping dressing room speeches. Passion is one thing but constantly undermining the club is another. Plus his comments about buying Real Madrid cast off shows the level of his delusion aswell..not even mentioning the likes of Thierry, Dennis, Patrick "cast off" status etc. more so the fact that he thinks Real are our natural competitors. We are a great British club...but have yet to come anywhere near matching the European exploits of the big European sides that have had similar levels of domestic success as ours...so do not have the right to turn our nose up at the likes of Higuain. It's not as if we were winning back to back European Cups, beating the likes of RM, when Tony was in the team. Wenger is the only man whose come close to delivering this for us. I still remember when we beat Parma to win the CWC....even back then beating the likes of Sampdoria on the way to win a European trophy was a really big deal for us...we are not Real Madrid Tony....but you were an amazing captain and I salute you for that.
