TONN stuck with high earners

    Imagine being a club interested in any one of our so-called yestermen............Xisco/Barton/Smith/Nolan?

    You would take a look at the wages these guys were on and run a mile.........

    Smith and the gang are all on £3 million a year.

    That's why there is no rush for any of them and all the crap about players happy to run the contracts down makes sense for the PLAYERS and the club. The talk in the papers is all coming from agents wanting contract extensions and for once the club is saying the right thing. If your 30 your too old to improve so why keep you.

    We're not going to sell these guys anytime soon as no-one else but Big Sam or some other lower leaugue outfit would entertain these stupid wages.

    So we get cheaper/younger talent in ( Barton's words not mine) and we put club on better footing...........

    Xisco and Smith should leave the club via mutual consent.

    Tonn? but sorry the points you made are right although i think we will be able to offload Smith and Xisco this summer

    Someone will take Smith, if not it's just one more year then he'll go for free. Xisco will be loaned out every year until his contract runs down. Barton will play one more year then go on a free (unless we can shift Ashley in that time). Nolan has 2 years left, re evaluate situation next year.

    Xisco and Smith will leave and accept lower wages elsewhere.

    They will know they cant get what we offer them anywhere else, and if they stay they wont get first team football. Xisco will probably want to return to Spain.

    I reckon we'll get rid of Smith and Xisco this transfer window.

    Smith wants to play football and he's down the pecking order when the first XI are all fit. I see him taking a pay cut to head off.

    Xisco want to rebuild his reputation so will angle a move back to Spain and I can see the club accepting a low offer for him as he has very little resale value so a loss against his purchase price is pretty much guaranteed.

    Nolan and Barton will still be here next season.
