With the signing of his top striking target in the bag and it would seem (if stories are to be believed) Adam Johnson has also agreed terms, coupled with the capture of Saha and the very impressive Cuellar, I think the stadium will be buzzing tomorrow. I always love first home game of the campaign anyway but tomorrow will particularly be awash with rumour and hype. Fletcher will play a part but as said in other posts, he wonât be match fit and may come on for 30 mins second half. That said, he could just as easily start and get off to a good start from the first kick. Arsenal was a cracking result, albeit with a tinge of good fortune at their poor finishing but it has to be built on now. Reading will come full of hope and confidence too and we have to guard against the euphoria at a new expensive signing overwhelming the game plan. I canât see MoN letting that happen and to be honest he is probably buzzing too having secured his top 2 targets and feeling the full support of his chairman and owner with hard cash. Fletcher's signing and Johnson's in particular are real statements of how serious the owner and the manager are with project SAFC and we should all feel very excited that there could be more to come and a pretty decent season in prospect for us all. If we have 4 points come 5pm tomorrow then we will be well on our way this season. If Fletcher scores on top of that we will be euphoric. If Jinky Johnsons signature is announced as well, we may all just bloody float home in pure ecstasy.
Massively impressed with Reading on Wednesday, and they showed massive guts to keep battling for the point against Stoke as well. It'll be a challenge, but even without AJ & Fletch, we'd be looking to win this game. 3-1 the lads! My mate is 'Samson the cat', he swears he will be ambushing AJ if he's presented tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled for a good laugh.
