Both signed today https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/city-sign-rowe-and-gilmartin/ I take it I’m ok to put this here now chief mod @johngalleyfan2 ?
I believe Gilmartin is third choice to allow O’Leary out on loan and will become part of the coaching set up.
Possibly he has played there in the past, and it allows Pring to develop more. Also offers cover for Korey Smiths injury’s as Brownhill and Pack we’re running on empty towards the end of the season. I don’t know much if anything about him really, but the club must have their reasons.
Gilmartin signing is a strange one - wasn’t even Colchester’s first choice and their fans don’t seem to rate him at all. Strange we didn’t hang onto Frankie.........
Why would Frankie be happy being third choice and not getting games? Gilmartin has only been signed to sit in the stands do a bit of coaching and it allows Max to go out on loan and get regular games
I didn’t see Frankie as third choice, I saw him as a very close second behind Maenpaa and definitely getting games. My post wasn’t a moan btw - just a bit puzzled.
Good point Loathsneyd - embarrassingly I had completely forgotten about him. I suspect we could also recall Max if we needed too.
I don’t think there will be any need to recall him with three keepers. Max will only gain more experience being out playing week in week out. Perhaps we may do what we did with Vyner and loan him to a lower ranked Championship team. (And I mean no disrespect to any other teams fans who may be reading this, unless you’re a Vile-er fan)
I believe this the one of the shrewdest signings we've made. We got a keeper who is quite content to be third choice kicking his heels in the stands and doing a bit of training here and there. We didn't want Max to be sat in those stands every week on the off chance that he may get on the bench if one of the first two keepers pick up an injury. He needs to be playing games regularly to develop. The same can be said with Rowe as hopefully this will allow Walsh to go out and get some game time
Yeah shouldn't have announced 3 on one day. They should have spread them out but then I guess the moan would have been we're signing rubbish in respect of Gilmartin and Rowe
Balance is what it is all about and I know some are questioning some of our lesser known signings but for once I believe we are heading in the right direction. Obviously, I hope, we will have more to come (no pun intended) in the scoring department and I am looking forward to the kick-off to see the dynamics of City's hard work. This has to be the season where we make our home a fortress where others fear to tread and let's start the trend by walloping Leeds.
I was kind of hoping Marley was going this window, he doesn’t really do a lot , other than break Kalas jaw. Haven’t anything about Taylor either, any ideas ?
