Just read this that Doherty has signed for Newport county. Suprising really as I'm sure he could do a good job for most league two sides. Do you think he looks back and wonders if he should have just got over his issues with waddock ?

Loved him as a player for WWFC. Really was far too good for League 2 and League 1, but the guy just couldn't knuckle down and be the kind of pro that would have maximised his talent.
Read a lot about his time at Bristol City and how he was earmarked to be the next big thing. Sadly his love for ***s & booze, plus his temprement mean that many will look back at his career as a wasted opportunity. Credit to Peter Taylor, he seemed to get the best out of him. My favorite memory of the doc was away at Rotherham (Don Valley) when he tied Reuben Reid up in knots in the corner and Reid was left lying on the floor looking a complete mug - great bit of skill!
Good luck to him, he certainly gave us plenty of entertainment!

I agree on both points made by Rocky. Waste of talent. I remember a mate who is a Bristol City fan telling me about him in 2002 and reckoning he would end up in the PL. It all went down hill from there and its not because of his talent- its clearly his temperament. I may sound old fashioned but its no good having passion, flair and aggression if you are in the bath after 60 minutes looking at another ban.
