Im glad we didn't sigh him when we was linked to him, thought he was shocking tonight letting men run past him, heading balls back into danger area... If i was a west ham fan i would be seriously worried having him at the heart of defense. But must say Bellamy was outstanding again tonight, did not stop running all game.
Very few of those players really give a toss any more than they would in a pre-season tournament. He won't be at his peak in July after taking a few weeks off after a long, hard season.
The season starts in less then 3 weeks and i don't think he will get any better he was piss poor tonight even if he was half fit he should be dealing was the basics of defense.
Because we have our own tournaments. A League Cup win will be ten times as memorable to a footballer as winning the Olympic tournament. They'll give a toss in terms of personal pride but, realistically, a lot of them will be more concerned about getting some minutes under their belts and avoiding injuries before the real thing starts again.
I'd rely on a superb season in the Championship more than one game weeks after his last competitive game and weeks before his next.
Because they are motivated by money. Just look at England for the last 20 years. Look at Bale pulling out "injured" and played last week for Spurs and got injured for real, a bit of karma there.
But he wasn't great against Senegal and was even worse tonight so that doesn't really make sense surely he should be improving not getting worse
I must say my mate is a West ham fan and is worried he knows its only pre-season but a lot of their games they have been putting full strength teams out and his words "They have been shocking", losing to Oxford 1-0, Drawing 1-1 with Boreham wood and on Saturday losing 3-0 to dynasty dynamo
But he and WH were crap defensively in the Champ??? They couldn't keep a clean sheet to save their lives. Only gets the attention since he's young and English, massively overrated IMO.
You can't base an argument against players ability from one game, it's ridiculous! Plus, he's still young, and far from the finished article. A lot of people in the game think he has a bright future ahead of him. Not sure if he's ready for the prem just yet, but time will tell. I'd rather have him in the squad than connolly, that's for sure.....
As for West hams pre season, it doesn't mean much to lose these games. Remember newcastles pre season when they went on to win the championship?
