He's gone to join the majority. I liked some of his music.

    RIP.

Never a massive fan until he helped form The Wilburys

    Loved Wilburys Vol. 1
Wasn't the same without Orbison in their subsequent albums.
End of the Line is great
    RIP Tom

Had to think hard before Freefalling then remembered Won't back Down, which is very good, and American Girl.

The latter because of Scream basically. I think?!?

Anyway, another rocker gone early. Bet he had a good time before he croaked.

Loved his stuff ... Refugee was iconic. Remember him being asked about his relationship with Roy Orbison during the Wilburys ... to paraphrase "Roy calls me Tommy ... ain't nobody else can call me Tommy".

Only the old boys posting in this thread!

Heard a short tribute on the radio this evening. It included the legend that is Dave Grohl giving Tom Petty a nod.

He wasn't bad. His band wasn't a patch on the real Heartbreakers though.

In a way yes, through his music but trust a stupid Spud to ruin a tribute thread. <ok>

<laugh> you pompous twat - sobered up then? Death of a pop star is sacrosanct, but the shooting of 50+ innocent civilians is the right place to try (and fail) to take the piss of HIAG. <doh>
