He isn't the finished article for either position at the moment. I would like to see him play in his own favoured position allowing him time to develop into it. His crosses are not too shoddy so maybe a RB edges it.
I'd say),seems a bit on the short side for CB. Both fullback positions looking good now with the emergence of White,Paddy will come good in time after his long lay off. Just need another CB,quick, strong in the air alongside him. Kilgallon would do for me. I know he's a big-headed twat but think he'd be an ok signing for us.
think he will grow into the CB position in time but is badly needed to fill in at RB at the mo so leave him as he is please
Like ristac says, he's not the finished article is either yet. Look at Micah Richards though - he was a centreback easily but then he started playing right back and has become a quality player there, arguably one of the best English fullbacks at the moment. The thing is, there's less pressure playing at fullback. I wouldn't like to see a 19 year old kid come up against John Carew like he would have yesterday. At fullback, he can improve his positioning, defending but not have the full pressure of centreback. I reckon he'll play in the centre eventually, and I'd rather see him there alongside a tall, commanding player.
Both. Best Fans made the reference to Micah Richards and that's a good example. He's a natural centre back but has the technique and crossing ability to slot just as easily into RB. Great for us that White and Lees are both so versatile.
Is he though? Connolly puts a respectable shift in at right-back and Lees might shore up our frailties in the middle for the time being. Not sure I agree there's less pressure at right-back, since it's far more noticeable when a winger beats the fullback than when a centreback, say, strays out of position or misses a header. The fans and journalists afterwards inevitably say a fullback was 'tortured', 'made a mug of', 'raped', 'skinned'. I think it might be best to play him in his preferred position alongside O'Dea or Kisnorbo (if Paddy does well in training).
I agree ...i think connolly has done ok.... Lees though is quick and knocks a great cross in.... its a tough call but O'dea has looked ok at CB and Paddy has had one off game..... Lees i think is certainly a great prospect whether that be at RB or CB...
Paddy hasn't really had an 'on' game either, and with all his barnstorming performances in League One, you kind of expect him to be producing the same diving headers and fearless tackles that he was a couple of years ago. I guess he needs fitness and game time, but I'd be tempted to let him get those behind closed doors and go with a safer option at this important early stage.
I think only Alan Pardew would say 'raped'. Lees has played two full seasons at centre back, so I would say there's more pressure on him playing out of position.
