Rumour going around that now Gary Cahill's transfer to Chelsea has gone through, that Bolton will look to our young CB Tom Lees! I hope they dont, becuase i think with another season under his belt he'll be sound.
bolton have been linked with about 8 players from our squad now. its probably bullshit like all the other links
i think its bollocks too....lazy journalists looking to stir the porridge but it also wouldnt surprise me if Ken took £750,000 - £1m for him.
Nah, he's contracted to 2015 so if we did decide to sell (which I don't see) we'd have Bolton over a barrel.
Lees is part of this club's future, and it would make no sense selling him. Leeds stuck by him for two seasons after he bust his knee, and now we can see why. This kid is pure class, and if he keeps improving he will surely play for Scotland/Wales/Ireland one day. The big lesson here is that Grayson tried everyone else at the back, and then threw Lees in as he had nobody else left to pick. The lad has taken his chance, and shown Grayson that our kids can play if given a decent run. White is getting better but he is better as a winger, Thompson is gaining experience and confidence, Charlie Taylor looks as if he will become a super player....we must have others in our Academy who we can bring in and blood. Come on Leeds!!!
The club won't sell him at this point in the season. He's under contract until 2015, and I reckon Bolton will be looking at other options because he's not ready for the Prem yet. He's only 21 and has already outshone all the CBs at the club. He'll be even better next season and if he actually had a good CB next to him, we'd have a good defence. Hopefully Aidy White resigns and then we've got 2 young, improving players standing out in our defence. I don't think Lees will make it at the very top but he'll be a decent Premier League player in future.
5 reasons Leeds will not sell: 1. Under contract to Leeds until 2015 (no rush to cash in). 2. Bolton can not afford him & are quite likely that they will go down. 3. Not an area we have any cover in, so we would have to buy a replacement. 4. His value will keep going up, why sell cheap. 5. His wages are less than his replacements would be.
BillysStatue, Tom Lees is English by the way We wouldn't sell him for the reasons nashville stated. It seems like lazy journalism to me. But I disagree with some people suggesting he wont make top half prem, I reckon he will. I reckon he is good enough to be playing bottom half prem now which means he will more than likely be good enough for a good team in the prem in the future. At this stage, his value would be hugely overpriced because of his contract and his age/potential. We wouldn't sell for less than 5m I reckon, probably the second highest valued player in our squad imo (that does not mean he is our second best player in our squad obviously)
