He spends a lot of time on the bench for Spurs but he completely wiped the floor with man city today. He is the sort of holding midfielder we need. He is strong and is a great passer.

What do you think the chances of us getting someone in this mold for next season?

We could get Chris Samba from a fire sale and push him forward. I have heard he is brilliant <whistle>

We need an anchor in the midfield someone who can sit on the centre spot pass the ball about, someone who can dictate the direction and tempo of the team. Unfortunately a lot of people in this country find players like that boring, hence why you don't see the likes of Carrick in the England team.

Huddlestone isn't a bad player for some reason whenever I watch him he always get sent off.

I'd absolutely love him here but I'm not sure how likely this is. Does anyone have any idea what sort of wages he is on?

Google reckons he's 'only' on £20k a week.

That isn't too bad in fairness and those are the kinds of wages we will have to start paying if we want to start looking up the table rather than down. I can't see him being prominent in Spurs plans for next season so perhaps this would be a possibility?

Didn't he almost join Stoke last summer?

I could see him on the move this summer but for me he's a bit too injury prone and rash in his tackling

Yeah, transfermarkt reckons he had a medical there and nearly agreed a year-long loan, but it fell through for whatever reason. Whilst doing the rounds on transfermarkt, the rumoured in-bound players for us are apparently Weimann and Davies, with the Martin to Villa and Bassong to Monaco being the outgoing rumours. I think they can all be taken with a rather large pinch of salt.

To injury prone, like Irdan said.

We can't afford to spend that on wages to have him out for half a season.

Unless he's on a freebie I'd stick with the continent to find a defensive lynchpin.

Plus I think Hughton is going to be looking at pace in the Summer, its the next logical (and easiest) step to develop on how we play at the moment.

Well lets be honest, he can at least pass a ball coherently.

He has his qualities and has been one of our best players.

I will always place passing however in terms of appreciation over brawn.

Johnson is a very different player. He is the work horse type where as Huddlestone is a dictator of play. He played some fantastic passes today when he came on. Absolutely ripped Man City to shreads. With Wolfie up top Hudds has the perfect passing range to spark attacks. Biglia would possibly be a better option but Hudds is tried and tested in the prem and whilst he cannot hokd dowb a place in a very good spurs side, he is still a top midfielder.

I think we are more or less agreed that Huddlestone has the passing ability but is too much of a risk. He was a classy youngster at Derby but the move to Spurs was probably too early and he might well be doing the business for a team like us. The 25 man squad makes it more crucial than ever to get it right.
Many of us have given CH stick for his style but this summer he will have the chance to prove us doubters wrong and bring in some talent that will take us up a level from just doing enough to stay up.
We will all have our ideas. I still think most supporters want entertainment as much as survival and I look forward to some real exciting pacey players joining us.
