We've signed this 18 year old midfielder from Everton. Does anyone know anything about him? I've heard that his chewing gum loses it's flavour on the bedpost overnight, but apart from that I'm in the dark.
Saw him in the youth academy final. He will be with us for approximately a year (maybe 2) before a top team rolls in. This boy is the future centre midfielder for England. Technically as good as any midfielder in the premier league, just lacks fitness. Which is what our academy midfielders have in abundance so I guess he is in the right place. His passing range is superb. Very intelligent and reads the game very well. Top signing. I doubt how long we can hold him for. He isn't first team yet but should be in about a year I think. Maybe a 18 months. Once he gets his fitness up.
Won't have been more than a couple of million. Thing is with these sort of deals is that the kid usually pushes it through giving the club no option. Clearly means Fulham is a place to be. Good for the future.
Saw him in the youth academy final, along with Sanchez of Fulham, the best players without doubt on the night. The deal would have been done by the academy management. And I must say, what an organised outfit this is.
He sounds like a good thing then. What kind of contract is he on? Some of the comments above sound like he's not particularly tied to us and we will be powerless to keep him before too long. Is that the case, or am I misreading people?
Watched the F v E academy game in which Donegan played, and had some like hearted banter with some of the Everton lads around me.I recall saying at the time apart from Donegan, not one would get into the Fulham side. (tongue in cheek of course).General reply was no chance he has a great future with us. A great scoop, or some sort of lease loan deal ?
Re Smalling I feel we did exceptionally well with that deal. To me always looks the weak link in the Man U defence when played.
Agree Roscafre. I have never been over impressed with him and to get £10 million plus was a deal and a half. He may improve with age, of course, but right now he doesn't look to be the wave of the future for the United defence.
I'm just surprised that he wasn't in the England squad to face Switzerland. Usually you don't need to even play, let alone do well at utd to get a call up.
I think Smalling's done exceptionally well, considering where he's come from. We got a good wedge for him but that's the going rate for young English players. Couple of good games and they're worth at least £10m.
