Tom Carroll is heading back to Tottenham Hotspur following his loan spell at Queens Park Rangers and the midfielder wants a chance to impress new manager Mauricio Pochettino before he thinks about his future. I'm going back to Spurs and will try to impress pre-season - and go from there. But no player would just want to sit on the bench or in the stands. Everyone wants to play. I'll be back at Spurs and hopefully I can do it there. If not, then we'll see.
Could he be more suited to the Premiership than the Championship? Does it even make any sense that it could be a possibility?
I see what is meant - seems like the PL is a bit less physical than the Championship and the technically better players in midfield seem to thrive bettter than in the lower League where power and physique seem to be more necerssary. I'd like Carroll to stay with us, as he could do well, and he's one for the future.
I think he needs to put on a stone in weight and bulk up, it's clear he's got something but he's too lightweight and relies on others to protect him, something you cant afford in the championship. Maybe he is better suited to the Premiership, but if he stays at spuds he's just as likely to slip into obscurity.
I would happily sign him for a reasonable fee with a view to develop him but not to have him straight in the first team. He needs to develop physical strength but his ability to play football is not in question.
I had my heart set on a Granero-Carroll combination ripping it up against Toure and Fernandinho in the first day of the season.
He needs a little more time to matue but no doubt he's going to be a decent player. Sort of player we should be looking at for our future youth IMO.
