Swansea City midfielder Tommy Butler has arrived in Australia and is set to train with Melbourne Victory as Jim Magilton looks to strengthen his A-League squad's playmaking options. The 30-year-old - who has two caps for Ireland - was released by the EPL club in the January transfer window by mutual consent. He had signed a one year contract in August last year despite being under an injury cloud, but never made an appearance for the club in the Premier League. Butler began his career at Sunderland and went on to Hartlepool, Dunfermline and Darlington before joining the Welsh club in 2006. With Brendan Rogers' side flying high in the EPL and injuries holding him back since mid-2010, Butler has arrived in Melbourne hoping to reignite his career. http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/231727,ex-swansea-butler-trials-with-victory.aspx
There are a lot of welsh league, Pro, and semi-Pro players, going out to Aussie, was talking to a lad that plays for Morriston Olympic, who had just come back, and he loves it out there, and the moneys good too he said, didn't think there would have been the crowd support, for paying players, but my son who plays, and is friendly with a few Swansea youth, told me that Adam Orme, goes out to Aussie too!.................. Anyone not sure who Adam Orme is, here's a Link: http://www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/0,,10354~1536490,00.html
perhaps aswan but what a toss team he signed for, wish they would all sign for Brisbane lol. all the olds like kewell emerton are back, good way to finish their career and give their knowledge to our youngsters
DPJ, a tool called Clive Palmer owns the Gold Coast team, one of the 10 wealthiest ppl in Oz. Another Mining magnate bought Newcastle Jets, Brisbane now totally foreign owned, heaps of cash on offer especially now Oz in part of the Asia group
Think he might well have Rhysj, it was last year that we saw Adam Orme, training with the Reds, lasted a few months played for the U19's, had a few games for the Ist team and reserves, then went out to Aussie for a couple of months, and really enjoyed it out there!..............
Harry Kewell is pants. There, I said it. Did one cheeky flick/behind his standing leg cross against Man Utd, and lived off it ever after!
Haha, ex-Swan Dennis Lawrence helped Trinidad & Tobago get to the World Cup, but that didn't make him a PL centre-back!
True that! Must have been amazing for Dennis though, scoring the goal to take T&T to the world cup for the first time. (I'm currently reading Dwight Yorke's autobiography so had a good account of the qualifying campaign!)
