Okay, so he was not giving a direction that Hamilton SHOULD have been banned for 6 races following his Monaco outburst, but I found it an unusual statement for the president of the FIA to make if it wasn;t his personal opinion and a suggestion that the matter should be looked into some more. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/92091 Surely if Todt thought that there was a need for a judicial review he would have sent it there, as it is he said he could have done and a ban could have been handed out, but he didn't. So what is it? Does he think a ban was appropriate or not? Was his comments tongue-in-cheek which it was clarified that they were, or could they have had a more detrimental effect on F1, in which case its a disrepute charge. Todt has left me somewhat confused as to the state of play here.
Toadt is completely out of touch with reality. A six-race ban is stupid coming from the mouth and brain of the president of the FIA.
Maybe it was just meant as a warning for Hamilton? Sort of a "Thats your last chance sonny" threat, do try and stop and future outbursts? I don't think the judicial court thing is necessarily what would worry him, it'd be the 6 race ban, that would end any slim hopes of a championship this season. Or, is Todt not clever enough to think things through and use his statement in that way, and was more sounding off at anyone who would listen?
I thought it was the kind of statement that we would expect to have got from Max Mosely. i.e. not actually telling people what to do, but putting bloody big hint about what they should have done.
Maybe his English is bad and he meant one? Though I highly highly doubt it. A six race ban would un-justifiable after previous bans handed out by the FIA for far worse action. Probably just a passing comment that means nothing.
I think that's how he intended it but the problem is he's the head of the FIA and he seems oblivious to the weight those kind of remarks carry when he makes them. Either that or he knows perfectly well the effect his comments would have.
So what??? Such a thought should not come into mind. I know I am a Hamilton fan I can accept a fine and a max 10 place grid drop, but a 6 race ban or even a 1 race ban, that's ridiculous.
He was thinking about the race-ban before Hamilton decided to go ahead and apologize. After that they talked and Todt decided to take no further action.
Maybe PMC would prefer someone like Ron Dennis as the Head of the FIA? That's a joke btw, so don't shoot me yet lol... *gets bullet proof vest*
Translation error of course. What he meant was 'Hamilton should face a 6 race SEX ban' All that testosterone flooding around makes a young man aggressive.
No I am just saying we should have someone who hasnt been in F1 , but understands the sport fully. He is doing a good job but I still have my concerns. And no Ron Dennis would make a horrible FIA President.
He's the President of the FIA, and Lewis Hamilton made comments in danger of bringing the sport into disrepute. If I were in Todt's position and a driver said what Hamilton had said about the stewards, I would want to send a message so that others do not make such comments in future. Just by Todt mentioning that there could have been a six race ban sends that message.
He was speaking his mind that I respect him fully for that. It could be said it was a fricken joke. As for the Racist Remark, I am still shocked if people cannot get it into their heads that it was a joke.
There was an underlying point to it though: Hamilton clearly cannot see (or is uncomfortable accepting) that there's anything wrong with his driving.
