Just reading a piece where Peter Coates in banging on about HOW MUCH money this Sunday's game Vs Southampton could be worth to S.C.F.C.

It's a great read IMO but....

He also mentioned the last game of the last 2 seasons and say's.... I remember them so vividly. It could be as much as 5 million pounds as we (could finish) top 10 but would be relying on other teams dropping pts. NO **** Sherlock.

Why oh why oh why didn't you TELL Mr CLUELISS this some weeks ago?

It's like Coates is preaching to the converted.. as IF we didn't already KNOW just how important this game on Sunday is.

He should be ramming it down the throat of the Muppet Pulis NOT us the FANS. He seemed pretty hacked off that TWICE we have failed badly in our last game of the season... WHY has Mr Coates come out and said this now I wonder? Could it mean we lose and I dare not think it just yet.... that man is sacked. It's not like we should be going for the win regardless is it! But .... we all know what Pulis's tactics will be. Anyone think that (he will actually just go for it) To finish in 10th would be (IMHO) just papering over massive cracks. That we all know are there.

Hot coals should have been under Pulis's seat in February. Pulis will set up to not lose the last one unless he really gets a rocket!!

Yeah it's all about money. You quote Coates ( from the Sentinel ) "worth sooo much to S.C.F.C." to finish higher in the league. What he meant was "worth sooo much to THE COATES FAMILY" to finish higher in the league. Finishing higher in the league does not guarantee future higher investment in the team.

The amount invested in new players and in the academy should not depend on our finishing position , the amount invested should be based on what is required to move upward in accordance with sensible and achievable plans.

LOL - its nothing to do with this game! If we had performed as capable and the manager had done his jon we would already be top half with nothing to worry about!

Too true Smithers, but was just symptomatic of how we have been playing since Boxing Day.

I wonder what really happened at Stoke after Boxing Day when we thrashed Liverpool.
I remember the national press mentioning the 'Stoke Roar' which quote - frightened the living daylights out of the Liverpool defence - unquote.

I think there is a great story waiting to be told.

I'd love to know exactly what happened after Liverpool but alas we will probably never know. It was more than a slight blip IMO and we were definitely in the relegation dogfight as a result of the slump. We survived but that was only by winning against QPR, Reading (relegated) and Norwich (a poor team like us), our only victories this year.

    What did happen???

I don't know but it sure was more than a "Blip" which is the word Pulis has used on numerous occasions since then.

What happened PP was that forty point Pulis threw his toys out of his cot because big bad Mr Coates would not give him more money to waste in the January window. So to get even he brings in the likes of Shotton and other ****e players out of position to throw games knowing that he had the squad to turn it around when he needed to. Just to show Coates etc. that this is what could have nearly happened and you should have given me the money. Other factors were them investing in the youth academy which Pulis is dead against and someone coming in to over see transfers. Why else would Pulis keep picking the same losing side week after week if for no other reason than to sabotage the results!!

Yes Waddo, but why cannot Coates see that??

That has always been my one so far unanswerable question - What is Coates motive?

I have a headache just trying to work all this out. We could not steal a pt a goal then all of a sudden. We beat QPR, Norwich and draw at Sunderland.
Seem's to me that it's not just a coincidence... I know those teams (no offence we're poor) but so we're a few more teams before those.

One other point did anyone else realise that in all three of those games Pulis started with Crouch/Jerome up front? But changed it for the Spurs game. Why?

I thought the exact same thing Potts. Why change a winning system especially as we were at home and relatively safe, what did we have to lose?
Pulis defo threw games this season. Match fixing, betting scandal or plain old fashioned Pulis spite because he did not get his own way in January!
