Well, after our win yesterday, it shows how much it could mean in the final reckoning. Watford now go top and Brentford beat Derby. Forest well beaten by Huddersfield and Wolves only managing a draw/ Looks like our next 2 games are going to be massive.
Mixed results really, but Brentford beating Derby has to be the big one. The Boro game seems a big one now.
Lost count of the number of leaders now and yes, a mixed bag of results concerning City. That silly goal conceded last night cost 4th spot but a long way to go. As for Derby, is that two games in a row they've lost after leading? It's a very competitive league.
Yes, that is 2 weeks running that Derby have lost when winning and Forest haven't won since the middle of September. It's good to see different leaders and I guess it's a league where any team can beat almost any other team and I'm sure the teams towards the bottom inevitably 'raise their game' when playing against teams nearer the top. Long, long way to go and I'm sure we'll see many different leaders before May next year.
When Forest looked good, my brother-in-law was getting quite excited! Many had us to pull away after Blackpool, then Derby had their turn, now Watford. Middlesbrough and Bournemouth are looking menacing but those just outside the play-offs are capable of making the top two.
Away trips to Boro and Forest are going to be big games. Come through those unbeaten and we'll be looking pretty good I think. Cardiff seem like they're beginning to get things together, I'd expect them to be in the play-offs before too long.
O'Neil has come into the team at just the right time really. He gives balance and other options to the midfield and has a very good delivery into the area. Could be very important for these next two games. We're now tucked in nicely and two points ahead of where we were after 15 games under Lambert in the Championship. I always think that goal difference is a good indicator and that goes Watford 13, Derby and ourselves 11, and Boro 10. Those are the main contenders, IMO, but Cardiff could creep back into it.
It's certainly been an interesting weekend! I'm hoping now we're out of our slump we can push on, 4 points from the next 2 games would see us in a very good position!
Essentuially we need to score first or be against one of the top teams who are trying to win. If we are then more often than not we will score more than them. Our difficulty is when teams have 11 behind the ball all the time
I think that's right, Zogean, and these next two games will test that. It's hard to use our pace against teams packed in defense, but Boro and Forest should provide opportunities for counter-attacking at speed, as with the first goal against Bolton. I look forward to that.
