Darrell Clarke has confirmed that two players could be on their way out of the Memorial Stadium this afternoon. Officials are currently in discussions with two clubs over deals that would see one players leave on loan, while another is close to completing finalising a permanent move away from the Memorial Stadium before the 5pm deadline for transfers. Clarke, who added it was ‘unlikely’ that there would be any incomings, said:
“There might be one or two bits of action. I don’t necessarily expect players to be coming in but there might be one or two going out. We’re looking at maybe one going out on loan and one going out permanently, but we’ll see. It is not a case of balancing the books, because I think I’m doing ok in terms of the budget. We sold a couple of players in the summer and we’ve recently bought one in, so I think I am in credit.”

Clarke is also currently in talks with Fulham over the possibility of extending the loan spell of impressive winger Lyle Della-Verde when his initial deal expires after Rovers go to Welling on December 6. That move, however, does not necessarily have to be finalised today as the initial loan deal was agreed before the deadline.

Could Brunt be going somewhere else? Can't really think who else might go... maybe Martin?

Lucas has joined Gloucester, Wilson has joined Wolves for a fee and various add ons triggered by the amount of games played. Alex Wall has joined us from Luton and looks to become perminant in January with Pierce Mitchell going on loan to Weston.

Beat me to it! I was just about to put the following....

DC on the deadline day activity:
“I am delighted to be able to bring in Alex Wall to boost our strike force. He is a player I know well from his time with Maidenhead and he will add further competition for places at the top end of the pitch. With regard to Donovan, it’s disappointing to lose him but he now has a great opportunity to further his career by joining a Championship side. His development as a player is testament to the hard work put in by our Academy coaches, who have worked with him over the course of a number of years and, like them, I wish Donovan a successful career. As for Jamie and Pierce, they need to be playing games on a regular basis, something I am unable to guarantee them at the moment, and they now have the opportunity to do that and I’m sure they will benefit from the experience."

Higgs said:
“Alex Wall is another young player who Darrell knows very well and his arrival will strengthen the squad still further and add to the strong competition for places in the starting lineup. I would like to welcome him to Bristol Rovers and wish him every success during his time with us. I have to say that we are disappointed to be losing young Donovan Wilson to Wolverhampton Wanderers, but there is very little clubs like ours can do when offers are made for our young players. Donovan has been with us since he was nine years old and has developed into a very good player during his time with us. We will receive a fee for him and a number of add ons will kick in at various stages of his career, depending on the number of appearances he makes. Whilst we are sorry to be losing him we wish him every success, and a long career, as a professional footballer. We have, of course, sent three players out on loan and I’m sure that they will all benefit from playing football, in new surroundings, on a regular basis. I believe that today’s business shows that Darrell is continuing to build an exciting squad capable of returning us to the Football League at the first attempt and we, as a Board of Directors, are backing him and will continue to back him in his efforts to do that.”

Ragarding Brunt: Apparently rumours going around on twitter is that Brunt was going to Northampton! He was lined up to replace a striker that they were selling to Wolves for £500k. However Wolves changed their mind after a medical was passed and that ended Brunts chance to a loan move to Northampton. Alex Wall signing to us was to replace Brunt so we still had 4 strikers at the club (Taylor, Harrison, Blissett & Goldberg). But as the Northampton striker deal to Wolves was cancelled, so was Brunts move to Northampton.

Regarding Leadbitter: We need him. Apart from Brown, we have no full back. If any of the back 4 gets injured, then he is the man to replace them.
* If Lockyer gets injured/suspended, Leadbitter goes RB.
* Until Trotman is back fully fit, if Parkes/McChrystal gets injured/suspended, Lockyer would move into CB and Leadbitter goes RB.
* If Brown gets injured/suspended, Parkes will go LB, Lockyer CB and Leadbitter goes RB.

Letting Leadbitter go would be a mistake.

Brunt has now left Rovers!! He has been shipped out on loan to Stevenage until 4th January.

We are now down to 4 strikers again. Wall was to replace the outgoing Brunt as mentioned above!

Shocking! Just read this about our new signing Alex Wall which was only from 2 months ago - September! <yikes>

Alex Wall has come in for stinging criticism from Luton Town manager John Still who labelled a recent performance from the striker “shocking”. The manager was not impressed with the 23-year-old’s showing in the 2-2 development squad draw with Barnet earlier this month and also called into question his professionalism after he was sent off in the final moments of the 5-0 second-string win over Bournemouth on Tuesday. Wall has only featured in two first-team games this term but, with the Hatters needing a goal during last week's 1-0 League Two defeat to Plymouth Argyle, supporters were calling for his introduction off the substitutes’ bench. Jim Stevenson – who bagged a hat-trick against the Cherries in midweek – was instead introduced and Still explained why...
“He [Wall] played in a development game last midweek and he was shocking. If supporters want me to play players that have been shocking in development games they’ve played then I’m not going to. To get in the team you’ve got to play well. He did a lot better this week [5-0 win over Bournemouth] but he’s been shocking. He hasn’t played well enough and he knows he hasn’t played well enough. Sometimes you have to be very careful because you can get put into a false sense of security, going, ‘he’s not playing well but I’ll play him anyway’. Then he doesn’t do well, his confidence suffers because of it and I don’t think that’s right. As I said last year with Andre [Gray], he wasn’t right and I’m sure if we’d have put him in when he wasn’t right, wasn’t scoring and it wasn’t happening, I’m not sure it would have worked. We brought him into the team when he was firing in training and firing in development games. He was ready and it’s very important that you do that because confidence is a big thing and Alex didn’t do well enough.”
Wall’s red card in midweek, for hurling abuse at the referee, won’t see him banned for any first team games, but his chances of playing against Cheltenham Town on Saturday appear slim due to his behaviour. Still said:
“All it shows is what a silly boy Alex Wall is. To get sent off for a mis-timed tackle, that happens, get sent off for denying a goalscoring opportuinity, because they’re all football things. To get sent off for a comment to the referee, he has to learn what being a professional means.”

It just gets better and better <yikes>

In todays news at Lutons end....

Luton manager John Still also revealed that Wall suffers from a medical problem known as Gilbert’s syndrome that has hampered his ability to train at Kenilworth Road. He said:
“Hes got a thing called Gilbert’s syndrome that does affect him and does affect his training. We’ve known it for a while and he has to go steady with it, but at the moment its okay. He can’t run sometimes and it’s a thing that affects your legs and your movement. It comes and goes and there’s nothing he can do about it. When he’s right, he needs to really push on and it’s a case of managing it. When he’s playing regularly, which we found with Dartford last year it’s okay, so we’ll get him there (Bristol Rovers) for the month and see where he is after that.”

Please dont think im writing him off because im not. I will back him while he is here but the above and my previous post scares the hell out of me!
