Went to the Bwood v Forest Green game of the night in the NL playoffs. Bizarre game with loads of great chances spurned, mostly by Bwood, but overall quality on show quite poor. Female referee made a point of giving absolutely nothing leading to some meaty hacks from behind. Did see fit to rule out an early Bwood goal after an away defender wiped out his own keeper.

Onward to Leslie’s Carlisle on Sunday. A 3:30 coach or two heading up. Would mean a 1:30 start for me so will save myself for the final.

Two very contrasting games. The PSG game was pure joy, and the responses from the managers and players afterwards were wholly positive.

Last night we had Arsenal whining about the length of the grass before kick off, whining about penalties, Arteta his usual graceless neurotic self and Simeone with his normal permanent aggrieved fury. Two teams with some great players who choose to play ugly.

I hope the winner of PSG/Bayern absolutely destroys whoever their opponents in the final are.
Arteta getting his excuses in early, saying that PSG and Bayern play in easy leagues so they will be fresher than his team. Nothing about him passing his own neuroses on to his players.

Pep meanwhile, after being dealt a challenging fixture schedule says he doesn’t expect any favours and wished it was worse and they were still in the Champions League. Rather than going to PSG v Bayern (“two bad managers and **** players” with a grin) he went to see Stockport play ‘“because I love English football “. I’m not his biggest fan, but fair play to him.

Embarrassment for the EFL who sent the League Two Championship trophy to Fleetwood where MK Dons were expected to win but they could only draw 1-1 letting Bromley take the title beating Walsall. Probably no helicopters available at that level... <laugh>

1-1 at half time between Mark Hughes’ Carlisle and Bwood. Bwood had an excellent first 35 mins or so quietening the crowd and taking a deserved lead albeit with a dreadful Rob Green-esque goalkeeping error. Really needed to get to half time winning but gave away a very soft goal with the usually excellent goalkeeper letting one through his legs at the near post and uncharacteristically poor defending. Would take penalties now.

Alas unless West Ham can do something special at home to Arsenal you feel with the fixtures remaining the Spurs dream is over. Will be worth it for Villa if they get through the semi. Sigh.

Still, West Ham in our league is a bit fun even if it’s not the hilarity of one of the main pushers of the Super League being relegated.

On the off chance anyone fancies it and knowing ‘we’ need all the fans we can get, the National League final is Sunday 3pm. £35 adults/£18 concessions (+booking fee).

Come along and cheer on former QPR stalwart Ross Weare who is first team coach.

Am considering it.
Wood have 15,000 tickets.

Rangers leading Hearts 1-0 in the big Scottish match and outplaying the Jam Tarts who will need to up their game in the 2nd half as they don't look like scoring...
