Firstly can we please not murder the team and Jol thought we did ok in a game we were expected to lose and there were positives! Positives 1. Amorebieta had a good game considering his full debut away to Chelsea 2. Thought Parker and Sidwell did Extremely well in the middle 3. Bent looked fit and worked hard without complaining chasing scraps Negatives 1. As good a shot stopper as Stockdale is and a solid back up he does have mistakes in him and the sooner Stekelenburg is back the better now the touchy point 2. Kacanicklic He is young and needs games to develop and we need to support him rather than criticise him but I just don't think he is bringing enough to the party at the moment! He needs a spell out of the team until we have a few more points on the board!
I've got to agree Cookie. Parker and Sidwell did well covering midfield; Bent just needs some matches; Amorebieta was reliable. The first half was good, but they wore us down after the break, during which Jose would have given them the hair dryer. Any points today would be a bonus. No doom and gloom about our performance. Quite agree with your post. Any point would have been a bonus so not too worried about losing or dropping into the bottom 3. we won't be there come May. When the first goal went in I was particularly annoyed with Stockdale because that was completely an error by him. As I said in another thread earlier today I think we need another keeper in January because Steck is a bit fragile judging by his history and Stockdale is not a long term stand in - okay for a game or two but not weeks on end. I'd get a new No. 2 and loan out Stockdale with a view to offloading permanently at seasons end. I think another positive is the introduction of No Bangna. Looked okay to me.
Agree there were positives as well as negatives to be taken from the game. Agree Amorebieta had a good game and Parker and Sidwell did well in the middle. Thought Kasami did well, but seemed to lose energy in the 2nd half. You need the whole team to perform till the end and I thought some players dropped their heads after the first goal. Stockdale seems to lose some poor goals, which can drain confidence of the defense, lets hope Stekelenberg isn't a Mr Glass when it comes to injuries, as if he can get back in think it would boost the defense.
