6835 and 2200 of those from City! This is why football is in the mess it is in today. 4500 home fans for a championship game at Scunny and probably 14000 maximum home fans to watch Wigan in the premier league.......the sooner these type of clubs get back from whence they belong the better!!! Bring back the 'natural order' of English football
Nonsense. Scunny are a fairly small town and obviously won't have a large fanbase. Particularly in such a small ground, when their team aren't playing great. It's no reason to want rid of them or insist they go back to where they belong, that's the sort of thing a Leeds fan would say.
and to be slightly controvertial, Leeds are not, and have never been our rivals. they are a massive club in the nbatural order. Wednesday, Boro, Sheff Utd, even Huddersfield, Bradford and maybe Sunderland are our real rivals and our equivalents in this natural order.......Grimsby, York and Scunny are 4th Division fodder....no more
Actually, there is something funny going on at Scunny, I don't think it's really the town size. Burnley have a smaller population, but average 15,235. Donny have a smaller population, but average 10,277. I think it's a combination of the fact that the population of Scunny are a bit knackered financially and the club have no ambition and sell any decent player, the minute they realise they are decent. If a club has no ambition, it's no wonder that their fans don't either, though I'm still surprised their crowds are as poor as they are, a 5,280 average in this league is terrible.
If you got rid of teams like Scunny and Wigan who would everyone else play? A lot of them became city supporters when we were in the PL, realised how awesome we are and stuck around. FACT!
Whooooaaa can't you remember going to boothferry park with attendances of 4-5000 and that was when we were top half of the table! Glass houses and stones blah blah blah
I also remember a yorkshire tele interview with Terry Neil by Keith Macklin in black and white stood on the North Stand behind the goal around 1971. In the said interview, Macklin queried, almost mocked, our aspirations as a Division 1 team with average attendances of 'only' 25000. In those days we had spent the longest period of any team in the second division and often topped 30000 again real crowd pullers like Sheff United, Sheff Wed, etc, etc. But not Leeds or Scunny funnily enough!!!!
This board livens up with some controversial discussion as the tiger suits and face paints are thrown aside for a while
If natural order is the name of the game then we are already punching half a dozen places above our weight this season. Better go on a run of losing throughout Feb and March. There's a few teams in this division who are below us but should obviously be above us.
Something is wrong at Scunny. When they came to the KC a couple of seasons ago they sold out the North Stand. That almost matches their home crowd for today. I wouldn't worry about where they are, Mussy, they're on their way back to their natural level.
