I was 90% through this article when my mate rang me to tell me that DM just got the Spanish Archer. I will keep most of it but modify it slightly to take this into account. Not much better than last week to be honest. A bit more endeavour but still not much in the ideas department and despite my tongue in cheek score prediction, it was always going to be tough against a Leicester side who are flying at the moment, an unfortunate team for Liam Kelly to make his debut against. A special mention for a few:- Chris Wood - that really useless, crap player that people so loved to slate last year. Crap now hey...? This is what happens when you provide a decent striker with chances... Wes Burns - well done mate, plenty of movement and QUICK..!, based on that 2nd half show I would like to see you in the starting line up, maybe with Sam when fit again please Bobby Reid - again, well done. Plenty of movement and again quick. Steve Davies - plenty of endeavour, if they had all played like you, we might have put up a better show. Liam Fontaine - I warned you last week DM that if you play this bloke again, it will cost you your job AND, IT HAS. Instead of going to close Wood down on the first goal, HE ACTUALLY RAN AWAY FROM HIM..!!!. A ****ing disgrace and surely this has to be gross misconduct and an instantly sackable offence. I am going to exclude Liam Kelly from comment today as it was always going to be a baptism of fire against Leicester and you have to have more than 24 hours to settle in. Once again today, it was mainly sideways and backwards with few actually taking the initative to instigate an attack (long balls don't count) and again, we had players all looking at each other thinking to themselves "what do I do now" and passing for the sake of it rather than with intent. It was too easy for Leicester, they simply waited for us to make a mistake with our sideways/backwards shuffle which they prompted by pressurising us. This is the legacy of the 2 previous managers failing to correct the lack of anyone with a brain in midfield operated by Johnson and sadly, DM paying the ultimate price by putting too much faith in players with their own interests at heart As I said last week, I suspect that there is a little more to our poor performances. DM started 5 players today who are out of contract in the summer and it was not a great surprise that 2 of the 5 in Fontaine and Gerken were directly culpable for at least 3 of the goals we conceded (got distracted for the 4th). I am pretty sure that most of the 12 out of contract had a good idea if they were staying under DM or not and the result is what has just happened and these players, WRONGLY in my opinion, now get a chance to win a new contract. Sadly, the boot seemed inevitable when some of the crowd started taking the mickey out of our efforts but frankly, whoever the new manager is, the only ones I would offer new contracts to are Skuse, James Wilson and don't know enough about Amadi-Holloway to comment. Steady aside, the rest are a ****ing disgrace....
The inevitable has happened Prem and now we must live with the consequences of 5 years of neglect and looking the other way when all we wanted was commitment to improve, a situation that was never going to happen with the poor players we kept year after year. Various failed attempts were made in a vain attempt to improve but all we did in reality was add more poor players to the roster. Now we face another crisis in the search for a suitable replacement who will have precious little time to bring in new players during whats left of the transfer window. Otherwise we must employ someone who can motivate what's left and that will be a difficult task for even Pep Guardiola but I'n not sure he's interested. What a sad state of affairs and even though I thought DM should have gone long time ago I feel for him at this difficult time. Well I suppose we move on, but to what I really don't know, and unless somebody is willing to take on this lot under the circumstances we could be left high and dry. Does anybody think that SL is able to make the right decision this time and I must confess my concerns are still in evidence. Over to you Steve!
