My fisrt live game for ages on the telly down here in the Canary Islands, so what did I see? Very good performance and Stead was a constant threat but kudos to Liam for his not giving up on a ball to score our second goal. Their goalie was more than happy to see a ball going out for a possible goal kick but Liam sneaked in at the far post to score a very good goal to put us up 2-0. Then we went in to a phase where we racked the score up to 4-0 before Barnsley got it back to 4-1 from the restart due to slack defending. When we got to 5-1 with the distinct possibility of going to 6-1 we fell off the pace and almost, only almost, gave in with some very sloppy defending. The reason as to why we are in trouble came and showed us the ugly side of Bristol City came to the forefront. When the oppositon attacks us in full frontal mode the defensive problems showed up with our mid-field/defence parting like the Red Sea. Panic was the order of the day and we gave them the opportunity to decrease the gap but we held on and won the game. The 3 points are very welcome and I thoroughly enjoyed our performance but unless we address the defensive/midfield issues we could still be in trouble. I haven't had chance to see the other results but I know the 3 points today are not enough to raise our league status and a win at Blackpool is essential in our bid for survival. Well done City.
It's not essential that we win against Blackpool it's a bonus but not the end of the world. If we carry on like this winning at home losing away as much as I dont want that to happen, should keep us up. Stop saying if we lose then we are out there are still 12 games to go.
Beat me to it ROD, Blackpool is one the games where a point or more would be a welcome bonus but, not expected...
I was trying to say how nice it would be to carry the positivity out of yesterday to get 3 points in our fight, and yes you're right that a single point would be perfectly acceptable. Getting all 3 points in our next game would make our situation so much more salvagable and if we attack like we did against Barnsley then it's a strong possibilty.
We need to beat blackpool imo could get us out of the bottom 3 and Blackpool arent what they used to be. A win is do-able
Thank you shiny can't understand why I got negative responses. A win at Blackpool would be an immense boost to our chances of survival and after yesterday the boys should be in the right frame of mind for the 3 points. A win could take us to the verge of safety and hopefully upwards from there.
On the "beach" that is doubling as Blackpool's pitch, both sides will find it difficult to play any football on the ground. So a good solid defensive show could be just right for a point. But we must keep the Ince's quiet!
Did you see the state of the Blackpool pitch on FL show last night...? They would be better off playing on the beach...!
