Fabulous win today and it almost sounds like a different team to what turned out just a short while ago but Sean obviously has made a difference in his work with the squad. Quite frankly I didn't think our chances were good today based on some of the selected players poor performances in the recent past. But unfortunately other results did not go our way with a lot of the teams around us winning key games, like ourselves. Several other teams that were above us are starting to drop back to the bottom pack and the only thing we can do is to keep winning our games. Sounded today that the confidence is bursting at the seams and that is always a positive sign and let's keep the good work going and continue our quest for survival. Well done lads.
The way some of the clubs above us are dropping it gives more hope, I said about confidence last week and when the teams above see the likes of us and Barnsley winning games their confidence already low due to them losing gets worse I think complacency had set in with some of those so called big clubs now they suddenly see they could face the drop and it seems to have rattled some of them.
I think if teams around us are winning it's pulling more into the mire. So today's results are not a bad thing as teams are starting to bunch up. Plus we can't do nothing with what others are doing, concentrate on our results.
I knew people would be saying this - granted, Barnsley and Peterborough's wins aren't good for us, but ultimately we need to finish ahead of 3 teams, not just 2, so it was, in many ways, more important that we closed the gap to the likes of Wolves, Ipswich and Huddersfield. With 16 games to go (over a third of the season!), it's still too early to get too wrapped up in other teams' results. If SOD and the club can continue to win points at the same rate that they have done since he started, then there's still a realistic chance of survival. A big ask undoubtedly, but today was a very good day.
It is not rocket science to say that not all 24 teams can win on the day - if the bottom 3 all won, not all of those above them did so it stands to reason that we are reeling in teams above us. I have never for one second believed that we are going to go down and now we have won 3 home games on the bounce, including 2 clean sheets, I am not about to lose that faith now...
No thanks to our last manager that's for sure....Had Del still be in charge, we'd be rock bottom.. That's not sticking the knife in.......it's fact!
