With a max £2,500 fine? Not even 1 days wages to him. What a waste of public money to have a 4/5 day trial on this. Has also come out that Ferdinand was taunting him about the affair. No excuse for a racial slur, but Ferdinand cannot come out as being innocent here either if he was trying to provoke a response out of Terry. Sounds like a bit of on-pitch hi-jinx just gone too far.
Not public money, JT will pay court fees if found guilty. You say its a max £2.5k fine but he will lose alot more than this on possible future endorsements if he is found guilty. High profile brands won't want to allign themselves to him.
Ferdinand denies accusing Terry of using racist language - this challenges defence that Terry merely said words in "sarcastic exclamation" Ferdinand denies hearing Terry racially abuse him - but admits referring to goading him over alleged affair with former team-mate's wife
He won't pay all costs though, just a contribution. His image was damaged from the affair anyway, so this will certainly not help. What needs to come out is absolute proof that he said what he said directly to Ferdinand, and not just in response to Ferdinand by saying he didn't say those words, if that makes sense! Personally, I think it will be inclusive and the trail will barely get past the first day. I mean, how can it take 4/5 days to determine if someone said a bad word or not!?
So who is this member of the public who made the complaint? I thought it was Ferdinand himself, merely being referred to a member of the public to protect his identity!
