What a fantastic day that was Max. I remember putting the radio on to see how Cardiff were doing at tea-time and thought I had misheard when they were 0-3 down early doors. Our win at Portsmouth was terrific, what a day - thanks for the reminder.
I watched poor old Cardiff fall to bits that afternoon with some level of disbelief and was totally buzzing come kick off for our game (not to mention a tad ****-faced!) What a night!
indeed thurnby, it was completely unepected that cardiff would implode at home, set it up perfectly. my only regret was i dithered over going to Pompey and missed out
My first and only pitch invasion. One of the most surreal and best nights of my life. A chain of events that all went the right way. I ended up hugging a complete strangers after Jackson scored. Then buzz at the final whistle was like nothing else I have witnessed in football. Thanks for reminding me.
Cardiff had sold ticket to watch both games at the ground, as if they won and we lost they would have gone up. I'm pretty sure that day was the text book definition of pride coming before a fall.
Lets not get too smug about that(!) Cardiff have secured Premier League football in 2013/14...feel free to be as smug as you like once we join them!
I forget how incredible that was. And it really was. Ta for the reminder and perhaps a little bit of needed perspective. How did mboro turn up that day - I'm sure I remember thinking they were already on their holidays? I wonder how the land would lie had we not got promoted...
And what got us that win at Portsmouth? A fabulous ball from Fox and a great piece of running off the ball by Jackson. Two players who the CH apologists are quite happy to agree are 'not up to Premiership standard'. But when we did last see anything of that type of invention or courage to create space or that kind of attacking intent? I am sick of the double standards whereby Hughton apologists can denigrate players and say they're not up to it, while people like Carrabuh, ILD, KIO and me who say the same thing about Hughton are labelled as disloyal.
The opinion is not double standards. The fact that talking down some of the players is acceptable whereas talking down the manager is traitorous is a kind of double standard.
I think you're taking this a little too far. I doubt many people are that confident in the manager at the moment. Some though, like me, are willing to 'wait and see' just for the moment - I wouldn't call myself a Hughton apologist, nor would I call those that disagree 'traitorous'
Yes, maybe I am in the emotion of the moment. At heart I think I am angry that a group of players really seem to have been left to rot and not to have been given a fair chance to prove themselves, and then people casually dismiss them as 'not up to the Premiership'.
Fair enough. I don't really understand either why these creative players have seemingly been frozen out. Would have thought we need them more than ever at the moment. But, he knows what he's doing, doesn't he? I'm not sure, and I'll be on his back as soon as anyone if things don't improve next season. Hopefully we'll limp across the line this season.
